Ben Affleck And Jennifer Garner Starred In The Disastrous Daredevil film
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have worked together before on the war action film Pearl Harbour and the superhero film Daredevil. One of MCU President Kevin Feige’s earliest works as a producer, Daredevil was heavily panned upon release for its campy and cheesy treatment of the superhero. Ben Affleck’s performances reportedly proved to be divisive.
An R-rated cut of the film was released to better reviews. The film, however, was successful and earned over $179 million at the box office. The studio commissioned a spinoff, centered on Jennifer Garner’s Elektra. The spinoff reportedly also featured Ben Affleck as Daredevil in a deleted scene. The film was a commercial and critical failure, earning only $57 million against a $65 million budget.
According to People Magazine, Affleck and Jennifer Garner reconnected on the sets of Elektra and reportedly were seen spending time together. The couple then got married in 2005 in a private ceremony. The couple was married for ten years when they announced their intention to divorce in 2015.
In a statement released to People, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner mentioned that they decided to go ahead with a divorce after much difficulty. They said,
“After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding.”
The couple reportedly got their divorce finalized in 2018. Garner had extensively supported Ben Affleck in his struggles with alcohol and also got involved with Al-Anon (via Entertainment Tonight). Ben Affleck got married to Jennifer Lopez in 2022.
