In the end, fans do not always see their favorite games on PlayStation turn into video game series. However, if Sony ever decides to revisit some dusty IPs, these eight titles would be our top picks for games that deserve a sequel.

#8 Driveclub

When Sony’s incredibly successful eighth-generation console, the PlayStation 4 came out, one of the most interesting launch titles was supposed to be Driveclub. However, it was delayed until 2014. When it was teased, it looked gorgeous, and the idea behind it was interesting.

It was a title that featured motorcycles and cars, something that not many titles offered during that time. However, it crashed and burnt because it did not innovate in the hypercompetitive racing genre. All hopes of a sequel died when Sony announced the closure of Evolution Studios, the game’s developer.

#7 The Order: 1886

The case of The Order: 1886 was a curious one. A game that blurred the line between cinema and video games. It was also marketed to be a ‘film game’, something unconventional for the time. It had the entire shebang, too, the ‘cinematic’ 30 fps and the letterbox black bars seen in cinema

The game had the bones of a good product. Sure, it had ‘style over substance’ written over it in sloppy handwriting, but it felt…fine. Credit where it’s due, though, the game was gorgeous and the gunplay was amazing. Overall, the game ended on a mean cliffhanger, and players never got the closure they deserved.

#6 Demon’s Souls

Demon’s Souls laid the foundation stone of the Soulsborne subgenre, one of the best contributions to the industry from FromSoftware. It was revolutionary in several aspects and its difficulty was unforgiving. The Dark Souls titles were considered ‘spiritual sequels’ to the game but Demon’s Souls never got a true-blue sequel.

It is astounding because FromSoftware has upped the ante in the action RPG space. And the studio’s formula has worked well. FromSoftware it has emerged profitable and its latest title, Elden Ring has been a chartbuster. But still, players are waiting on a sequel to the parent title in the Soulsborne subgenre.

#5 Shadow of the Colossus

A classic title, in the truest sense. Shadow of the Colossus was initially a PlayStation 2 title. The game is hailed by many as one of the best exclusive titles to grace Sony’s console ecosystem. That is exactly why it has been made available by the Japanese console brand on three consecutive console generations.

It influenced loads of games focusing on slaying ginormous monsters in an open-world space that came after it. It truly left a mark on the industry. However, a sequel is nowhere to be found at this point in time.

#4 Returnal

A title by Housemarque, makers of titles like Alienation and Nex Machina, Returnal was similar to a traditional third-person shooter and a shmup. Despite, Being a studio that has been around since the MS-DOS days of video games, the game was one of the biggest projects worked upon by Housemarque exclusively for the PlayStation 5.

It was enjoyable for the most part, making use of the PlayStation 5’s adaptive trigger technology incredibly well. The gameplay was silky smooth, despite some weaker aspects in the game’s plot, which could very well be rectified in a sequel. However, it isn’t known when or even if there will be a sequel to the title.

Despite not being a game with path-breaking gameplay and more of an interactive movie like most games from David Cage’s Quantic Dream. The game is set in a dystopian world, a cyberpunk setting, where Androids co-exist with humans until things go wrong.

The game has several substories inside it. You play as various Androids and get to know their story. Each action you take has consequences, some of which may even decide the fate of the android and the civilization. While the game has multiple endings, a sequel to this masterpiece will be welcome if Quantic Dream breaks its rule of not developing sequels.

#2 Ghost of Tsushima

The game features a lived-in open world, an amazing soundtrack, stunning visuals, satisfying swordplay, and a plot that will leave you wanting more. That is exactly why, players often express their desperation for a sequel.

#1 Bloodborne

Bloodborne is one of the best games to come from FromSoftware. While its gameplay is amazing, just like other games from Hidetaka Miyazaki‘s studio, some elements in the game are unlike any other. For example, its atmosphere and setting are so incredibly unique that no other game comes close.

The game has a Goth aesthetic and a Victorian vibe in its world. It is a Fantasy RPG just like other Soulsborne titles but it stands in its own league. That is because it is one of the most unique Soulsborne games to ever release. Alas, nothing is known about a sequel or even a remake / a PC port for the title.
