Deadpool is finally back, after six years since the end of the X-Men movies. This time, it’s making its way into the MCU along with Wolverine. And, the much-awaited first trailer of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 3 was dropped at the 2024 Super Bowl on Sunday. And as expected, it has wreaked havoc on the internet.
Following the trailer release, eagle-eyed Marvel fans started analyzing every sequence in it. The teaser featured the return of all the fan-favorite supporting characters from the Deadpool franchise, the TVA, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine since 2017’s Logan. Among them, Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa is also seen at the beginning of the teaser. And this is the one scene where Wade Wilson seems to be depressed.
Vanessa Carlysle is back
Guess who’s making a surprising comeback in Deadpool 3? None other than Vanessa Carlysle, played by Morena Baccarin. Fans were in for a treat with the release of a new trailer, which unveiled Vanessa’s return despite her onscreen demise in the previous film.
The teaser starts with Wade Wilson and his buddies joyfully celebrating his birthday. Among the revelers are familiar faces like Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Leslie Uggams’ Blind Al, Stefan Kapicic’s Colossus, and more. And though we saw Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa meet a tragic end in the last movie, she was there too.
Wade Wilson was devastated by her death, and it became a pivotal moment for him in the film. So, one might question how the character just popped up in the teaser for the upcoming threequel.
The answer lies in a clever twist introduced in Deadpool 2‘s mid-credits scene. In this sequence, Yukio and Negasonic Teenage Warhead repair Cable’s time-traveling device. Wade seizes the opportunity, going back in time just before Vanessa’s tragic fate and successfully saving her life.
Will We See Another “Happily Ever After” for Deadpool and Vanessa? Fans Think Otherway
Morena Baccarin’s Vanessa returns in the latest Deadpool & Wolverine trailer, but her role remains shrouded in mystery. Fans are left wondering: Is this a sweet birthday scene or a hint at a deeper connection to the multiverse plot?
Vanessa, Deadpool’s love interest, appears alongside his friends singing him a heartfelt “Happy Birthday,” saying, “Make a wish, buddy.” A pivotal moment in the trailer captures Wade Wilson expressing stress, confessing, “It’s been a challenging few years…“. Marvel enthusiasts are speculating whether this could signify a strain in the relationship between Wade and Vanessa, sparking rumors of a potential split.
While the trailer doesn’t give much away, Vanessa’s involvement adds intrigue to the already expansive multiversal story of Deadpool 3. Scheduled for release on July 26, 2024, Deadpool 3 promises an exciting cinematic experience. Meanwhile, you can revisit the first two Deadpool films, available for streaming on Disney+.
