Starfield, the action RPG title from Bethesda Game Studios, was released last year and received generally favorable reviews from fans and critics alike. The developer is now working on the DLC titled Shattered Space, which is scheduled to launch later this year, but there is no launch date yet.
The Elden Ring DLC will also be released soon, on June 21, 2024, and it is the biggest ever from Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoftware. The DLC seems to be a big rival to the Shadow of the Erdtree and could compete with the highly anticipated DLC.
Starfield DLC Could Rival Elden Ring’s Upcoming Expansion
The DLC was announced earlier this year and will be released sometime in the fall of 2024. The DLC is said to be the biggest ever from Bethesda Game Studios. Some fans think that it could rival the upcoming Shadow of the Erdtree. One fan took to the game’s subreddit and shared something that may prove this.
Reddit user JarusinTheStars shared a screenshot of the announcement of the DLC and said that Bethesda has referred to it as an ‘expansion’ and not a DLC. They added that the developer has not used this term for any additional content for a game since Elder Scrolls Oblivion: Shivering Isles.

The fan referred to the fact that the expansion might have more than the developer has offered in its previous DLCs. The expansion is said to bring new story content with new locations, new gear, and more for players. Moreover, the game itself is pretty big, so Bethesda has to do something with the expansion that makes it stand out from the game and revive the game.
Not All Fans Think Expansion or DLC Have Different Meaning but Just Want It to Be Good
While players are looking forward to the expansion, many of them think that it does not mean anything and that it is just a matter of who wrote it. One user said that players are overthinking this and will be left disappointed if the expansion does not turn out to be how they expected.
User ShadowComplex0 said that they too have noticed this, and Bethesda has also taken the most time to develop the upcoming expansion than any other DLC, so it might be bigger than the ones released before.

Some also said that it may just be a cultural change in the industry and that it means nothing else. It remains to be seen what the term expansion actually means, but for the majority of people, it’s nothing but a word, and many have said that expansion was a term before DLC was popularized, and people need to be more analytical.
