Marvel Studios is still finding its director for the much-anticipated Avengers 5, and director Shawn Levy is reportedly at the forefront of prospects. The Canadian filmmaker has quite a lot going on after working on Deadpool & Wolverine, and now, he’s busy with the production of Stranger Things Season 5, so it’s not quite sure whether he wants another job on his plate.

Regardless, the Avengers 5 is still a long way to go, although his potential involvement in the franchise may also mean he could bring one of the most in-demand stars of today into the MCU.
Marvel Studios Reportedly Eyes Shawn Levy To Helm Avengers 5

Shawn Levy is the top choice and is having early conversations to direct another Marvel Studios pic — the next Avengers movie.

It’s been five years since fans had an Avengers movie, although this time, it is going to be very different. Endgame gave fans one of the best conclusion to an epic saga, and that would be too difficult to surpass.
Meanwhile, the outlet also reported that “Levy has been given the latest script by Michael Waldron, though sources add that he has not given an answer on whether he will take the job.” Indeed, the director has a lot of projects at hand, and his involvement is not yet certain. The studio is set to meet with other filmmakers if Levy refuses to hop aboard.
As for Stranger Things, he is currently the director and executive producer of the final season of the famed Netflix horror series. He is also attached to a future Star Wars project.
One of the things that Levy could do if he agrees to work on Avengers 5 is help Millie Bobby Brown join the X-Men reboot. The young actress has been a fan-favorite cast for the role of young Jean Grey, and with the director’s recommendation, this could become a reality.

Millie Bobby Brown once revealed she tried to audition for the role of X-23/Laura Kinney in Hugh Jackman’s 2017 film Logan. She described her audition as one of her best, and she admitted that she ardently prepared for it. Despite losing the role to Dafne Keen, Brown isn’t upset at all.
Kevin Feige once addressed a rumor of Brown joining the MCU via ComicBook and said she “would be fun to see in the MCU, but nothing specific, or nothing to talk about.”
Even Brown is aware that fans want her to join the franchise. She said in an Instagram Live via ComicBook, “Everybody thinks I’m going to be in a Marvel movie.” She announced that she’s not part of the cast yet, but Levy has the power to turn this around and give the actress the Marvel role she deserves.
Avengers 5 is slated for a May 1, 2026 release.
