The highly anticipated release of Deadpool & Wolverine—helmed by Shawn Levy—is just around the corner, and it’s coming at us faster than one of Deadpool’s famous zingers.

There have been numerous rumors (via Alex Pérez from The Cosmic Circus) swirling around the upcoming flick, but the latest one is truly intriguing. It seems that the secret role of the Cowboy Deadpool variant has been revealed, and the identity behind the mask is none other than Matthew McConaughey.

Yes, you heard that right—the same actor who previously denied a role in the MCU is now rumored to be playing Cowboy Deadpool. It’s like a plot twist straight out of a comic book.

Though the initial tweet was merely a hint, Pérez was far more forthright in a follow-up, telling a skeptical fan directly,

But that’s not all – other tweets offered hints that Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds’ wife, will be stepping into the role of Lady Deadpool in the movie. This casting news has fans buzzing with excitement, as it opens up the possibility for some epic on-screen chemistry between the two actors.

Pop sensation Taylor Swift is among the prominent faces, who are rumored to be considered for that role. And let’s not forget the numerous cameos that are rumored to be featured in the film, including Ben Affleck’s Daredevil.

Matthew McConaughey’s Inside Story on Turning Down Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Well, there’s a tale, ripe for the telling, about why Matthew McConaughey, the big screen’s charmer turned down a villainous role (Ego the Living Planet) in the MCU. Rather than joining James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, McConaughey set his sights on painting his own shade of darkness as Walter Padick in Nikolaj Arcel’s The Dark Tower.

In an interview with Playboy, he shed light on his choice, hinting at the allure of originality over an amendment in an already-acclaimed narrative.

I like Guardians of the Galaxy, but what I saw was, ‘It’s successful, and now we’ve got room to make a colourful part for another big-name actor’. I’d feel like an amendment.

Instead, the Texas-born actor, 54, was drawn to The Dark Tower because of the well-written script, the director’s vision, and the opportunity to truly embody the character of Walter Padick in his own unique way.

The Dark Tower script was well written, I like the director [Nikolaj Arcel] and his take on it, and I can be the creator, the author of the Man in Black – aka the Devil – in my version of this Stephen King novel.

Yet despite McConaughey’s zeal in embodying this character in an intriguing, neo-Western science fantasy film, it appears that even the best intentions sometimes lose their way under a storm cloud of critiques. Alas, The Dark Tower faltered in the eyes of moviegoers and critics alike, evidenced by its shaky and sobering 15% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Anyway, with a star-studded cast including Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Morena Baccarin, and Leslie Uggams reprising their roles, alongside Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen, Deadpool 3 is bound to be a wild ride.

So mark your calendars for July 26, because Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the year.
