Elden Ring is the latest Soulslike game developed by FromSoftware and was a massive success. The game developers later released an expansion called Shadow of the Erdtree and it was a worthy follow-up but some fans can’t help but notice some strange details that could connect the dots to another game.

Director Hidetaka Miyazaki did not hold back with the expansion and has given the gaming community something worth remembering. The Soulslike genre is not for the faint of heart while the developers are firm to the franchise’s core and some games have stood well against the test of time.

FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment have helped each other in the past few years to deliver unique and creative video games to the rest of the world. Some players have noticed that the enemies in Elden Ring are vastly superior. The enemies are a massive upgrade from previous games equipped with a far more advanced form of artificial intelligence that would adjust their aim to hit a player.

This is a testament to Miyazaki’s attention to detail, however, some fans noticed that the celestial skies in the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion could be the closest thing the gaming community will ever get to a Bloodborne sequel.

Other game developers like Team Asobi are pulling their weight to feature the beloved Soulslike game by adding cosmetic items inspired by the franchise. Not everyone was happy with this cruel act that seems to be targeted at those incessantly begging Sony Interactive Entertainment to greenlight Bloodborne 2.

The gaming community has been on the edge of their seats for a sequel but Miyazaki and FromSoftware have no control over the franchise. The director holds this project in high regard after spending years of his life contributing to the game and to see it thrown in the basement of PlayStation and Sony to collect dust and cobwebs is as bad as fans might expect.

There is still hope, especially after one of the new heads of PlayStation Studios revealed he is a fan of the Soulslike genre. Hideaki Nishino could have a change of heart and be the savior of the franchise by greenlighting a sequel and sweetening the deal with a remaster of the original game for the PlayStation 5 and a PC port.

Miyazaki fondly reflects on the success of older games and takes inspiration from the character designs for newer enemies. The Shadow of the Erdtree expansion featured a new enemy that heavily resembles the nature and theme of the Bloodborne franchise which could be a way for the developers to honor the past.

The developers also left misleading references and easter eggs from Déraciné and Miyazaki felt he caused Sony a major inconvenience. The gaming community was confident that these were cleverly placed as a subtle hint for a sequel that was never on the cards.

In a perfect world, fans could have gotten everything they asked for, unfortunately, it is not up to Miyazaki and is way beyond his control. Sony could still have a change of heart and make the right decision.
