The character will make his triumphant return in the upcoming Daredevil series set in the MCU titled Daredevil: Born Again. Bernthal along with Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, and Wilson Bethel recently made an appearance at GalaxyCon Raleigh to talk about the upcoming Disney+ series. The Accountant star made an interesting comment about his training process for the film.

Bernthal revealed at the event that he trained with Thomas Jane for the series. As fans know, Jane played Frank Castle in the 2004 film version of The Punisher. The two were seen engaged in firearms training for Bernthal’s new show last year (via Instagram). Fans have seen the bloodied and roughed-up look of Bernthal from the leak set photos.

On X, fans were surprised to know about the union of the two Punishers and expressed their excitement for Bernthal’s return. Some were sad that either of them did not make an appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.

Jon Bernthal‘s Punisher is a man that stands for justice and getting rid of ‘the scum of the earth’. He has faced his own share of tragedy in his life (losing his wife and kids) and does not want others to suffer in the same way. Thus, he takes up his life as a vigilante and terrorizes criminals, making their lives a living hell with his violent methods of delivering justice.

In an interview with Collider, Bernthal revealed that the reason why the character resonates with so many people is because there is a little of Frank Castle in everyone. The actor further stated that the character exists inside him and cares about him deeply. He said,

I think there’s a reason why that character has resonated as deeply and strongly as he has. In the hearts and minds of comic book fans and first responders people in the military and people all over the globe. I think there’s a little bit of Frank Castle in everybody. He exists very strongly inside me and I care about that character deeply.

Bernthal’s Punisher is set to team up with Daredevil in the upcoming MCU series Daredevil: Born Again. The show led by Charlie Cox will also star Vincent D’Onofrio, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, and Wilson Bethel.
