Sylvester Stallone and Madonna’s Insane Record For Most Razzie Awards
While any artist would be ecstatic to win an award for their work, they can not say the same when they win the Razzie Award. Formerly known as the Golden Raspberry, the award is co-founded by Mo Murphy and John J.B. Wilson which picks out the worst performers of the year. The winner is selected in a similar manner to the Academy Awards.
The award has been won by many big names like Eddie Murphy, Ben Affleck, Adam Sandler, and many more stars. However, as per Far Out Magazine UK, Madonna and Sylvester Stallone are way ahead of their competitors as Madonna has a total of 9 Razzies for Who’s That Girl, Body of Evidence, Four Rooms and Die Another Day.
However, she is not on top of the list, as the Italian Stallion has a total of 10 Razzies that too for some of his most iconic films, that is Rhinestone, First Blood Part II, Rocky IV, Rambo III, and Spy Kids 3: Game Over. Though surprising, the award takes a cheeky dig at the actors for showcasing the less intriguing aspects of the movie industry. More or less, by providing constructive criticism, which the community felt while watching the film.
Sylvester Stallone Acknowledged How Rocky’s Fame Changed Him
The Tulsa King actor’s life changed when his 1976 film, Rocky hit the theatres. The movie was a smash-hit blockbuster as the film earned $225 million at the worldwide box office and won three Oscars, including for Best Picture. However, during an onstage interview at the London Palladium, Stallone shared that the film’s success has made him “insufferable.”
As per BBC, Sylvester Stallone acknowledged that “I abused power badly,” and upon watching some of his old interviews he felt extremely embarrassed of himself to the point where he would punch himself in the face.
“I read some of the interviews I gave now and wish I could go back and punch myself in the face.”
While he was too arrogant after Rocky’s success, he recalled the incident which humbled him. He stated how he left the set of Rocky II to attend the premiere of his 1978 film Paradise Alley, where only two people attended it, “And one of them was asleep.” He added that it was “a humbling experience” but “a good thing” for him in the long run.
