Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney went for the full 12-round war before the former was declared the winner by the majority decision. The loss is a first in the career of Haney, and it was the first time that he had been knocked down to the canvas.

Garcia gained the upper hand right from the beginning when he landed a big left hook in the first round that rattled the champion. In the seventh round of the match, Haney went down after taking a left hook to the chin. While Haney fought back in rounds 8 & 9, he was once again knocked down by another big left hook.

Garcia’s punches kept on coming, and he knocked down the undefeated champion for a third time in round 11. Haney tried to regain the match with a knockout in the last round, but Garcia spent most of his time taunting the champion. By the end of all the rounds, Haney had convincingly lost the match.

After the match, when the commentator asked Ryan Garcia about his left hook that knocked down Haney three times, he shared that it was blessed by God. He further added that his haters overrated Haney’s skills and hated him because he was a pretty boy.

However, he added that he had been boxing his whole life and tried to help the children whenever he could, even if it meant putting his reputation on the line. He shared during the after-fight talk (via Matchroom Boxing):

“You guys overrate everything. You guys hate on me cuz I’m pretty and sh*t. At the end of the day, I’ve been boxing my whole life and all I do is love God and try to help the children. You guys do not love the truth. The truth is I put my f**king reputation on the line for all the kids in the world.”

Ryan Garcia’s only regret from this match would be missing the weights, which effectively lost him a WBC belt. Since the championship title remains unclaimed, a rematch might be in the cards.

Earlier this month, fans found another one of Garcia’s creepy social media posts. Some fans were genuinely concerned about the boxer after he continued to make such creepy claims about Jenner. Hopefully, with the win, Garcia will be able to put these antics behind him and focus on the upcoming WBC matches.
