Helldivers 2 fans have a ton of milestones to celebrate after having one of the most tumultuous weeks ever. It was more intense than when servers malfunctioned, and people were begging and pleading to be let on the game.
The war between the game’s players, Arrowhead, and Sony spurred a lot of malicious insults hurled at the studio, the conglomerate, and the players themselves. But, emerging like a rainbow after rain, there’s some good news to be shared.
One Helldivers 2 Battle Is Over, but Another Rages On
As the drama dies down and people are getting settled in to enjoy their favorite co-op shooter again, the staff at Arrowhead have an important announcement to make to clear some things up.
Congratulations are in order for the entire community and Arrowhead, as according to the staff, the official Helldivers 2 Discord has hit almost one million users, an amazing milestone for an AA production.
However, with that kind of userbase, it seems the staff have been understandably held up with a ton of mentions and DMs aimed at them across the day. They explain that it’s not possible to respond to all of them, but make sure to check as many as they can.
After thanking the community for their support, the message takes a more grim tone. They ask that players be more respectful of one another and the studio’s staff, as the last few days have brought about a ton of challenges:
No matter to whom you’re writing or what you’re commenting on, remember there’s a person on the other side. With so many people here, we’re bound to have different opinions. We all make mistakes and we learn from them.
They end the message, by encouraging people to discuss and not argue whenever possible.
The Drama Was Messy On Both Sides
There were reports of community managers at Arrowhead being messy, but the overwhelming force of Helldivers 2‘s insanely large community is nothing to underestimate.
No doubt, Arrowhead has been through the wringer ever since the announcement regarding the mandatory PSN linking policy was made.
Following Sony’s announcement that it would be reversing the decision, the community was nothing less than ecstatic to hear the news. Even Pilestedt came out to say a few words, praising players for their insane willpower and teamwork in trying to get Sony to back down.
Sony might’ve backed off because of the review-bombing the community did on Steam to have their voice heard.
Spitz, a controversial community manager, had urged players to do this as it gave the studio more leverage in its discussions with Sony. Now that it’s over, players are urging others to change their reviews back to positive.
