Actor Taron Egerton has been riding high with the success of the Kingsman films. His projects like Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle along with Sing and Rocketman made almost 667 million at the box office. The actor has also been on the radar of Marvel studios for a potential role as Wolverine in the X-Men prequel which has got his fans and MCU buffs elated. The Kingsman actor confirmed in July 2022 that he was in talks with Marvel head Kevin Feige for a possible collaboration, stating that the thought was a very exciting one. But according to the latest reports coming in, this may just be a pipe dream for both Taron Egerton and Marvel studios.

Taron Egerton dashes the hopes of MCU fans
Speaking to Total Film magazine in March 2023, actor Taron Egerton explained why the MCU may not be a tangible possibility anymore. When asked about Wolverine, the character originally played by Hugh Jackman, the star admitted that,
“I’m too old for it now, I think that ship has probably sailed. Yeah, that whole Wolverine thing – I get asked about it and no matter what you say, it gets turned into what people want you to say about it. I’m not going to be the guy to play Wolverine. No signs are pointing towards that being the thing. And I just don’t know if I’m maybe…”
This has come as a big blow to MCU fans who felt that the character of Wolverine was tailor-made for the star after he allegedly turned down the role of Cyclops too, for the X Men prequels. But it is still possible that there is a light at the end of the tunnel for the actor and the MCU.

Is there a future for Taron Egerton and the MCU?
Despite stepping down from the responsibility of playing Wolverine, Taron Egerton has always been vocal about his love for the Marvel Universe, their storylines and their characters. While he states that he has loved watching all the films in the franchise, he also expressed that the timing was’nt right for him now to venture into the MCU. But he added that he will “never say never”.
There seems to be a glimmer of hope, from this comment that Taron Egerton has not completely dismissed the idea of an MCU film just yet. The X-Men prequels and the Fantastic Four in particular have roles that could entice the Kingsman actor to take the plunge. But it will surely be, if at all, only in the distant future. Despite the welsh star stating age as a concern, it is still a popular belief among fans that, at age 34, Taron Egerton has many more years to explore the Marvel world.
