While Speed did get a sequel in 1997, Keanu Reeves, unfortunately, didn’t join Sandra Bullock for it. Speed 2: Cruise Control wasn’t as loved as its predecessor and with a 4% score on Rotten Tomatoes, it was mentioned in a lot of ‘Worst Sequel’ listings. With the 30th anniversary just around the corner, it might be time to make things right and the lead actors just might be down for it!

During the promotion of the 2022 film, The Lost City, Sandra Bullock talked about what exactly will push her toward the franchise after the sequel performed so poorly. In an interview with Fox 5, Daniel Radcliffe joked around with Bullock about the possibility of Speed 3. Radcliffe stated with a laugh, “Speed 3: Horsepower. My friends have been pitching it to me.”

To this, Bullock stated that if Radcliffe would be the one sitting on the director’s chair. The Bird Box actress said, “If Daniel would direct Speed 3: Horsepower…that’s what will get me out of the house.” Radcliffe jokingly asked Bullock to not threaten him with a good time. Bullock and Radcliffe developed a strong bond, so much so that the actress openly asked Marvel to cast the Harry Potter actor as Wolverine. She stated, “Wolverine people, can you please just f*cking cast him?”

What’s even more interesting is that the original lead actor of the Speed franchise, Keanu Reeves, is also willing to return for a sequel, despite not being in the second film. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Reeves stated that “A great story, a great script” is what will get him to come back for the franchise.

Despite having a wonderful career in the entertainment industry, Bullock has a regret and yes, the regret is starring in Speed 2: Cruise Control. Talking to TooFab, Bullock was asked if there is a film she was “embarrassed” to do but came around later after seeing the reception. She replied stating,

“I have one [that] no one came around to and I am still embarrassed I was in. It’s called Speed 2. I have been very vocal about it. Makes no sense…That’s one I wish I hadn’t done and no fans came around that I know of.”

Since Bullock has some serious regrets about the sequel, it might be time to fix some things. Even Reeves is interested in part three! Now, all we need is for Radcliffe to agree on directing the film and Bullock will follow.

Speed is available to stream on Prime Video.
