All set to portray the character of Reed Richards in the upcoming film by Marvel Studios, the star has got a lot on his plate. Yet, he seems to have found another worthwhile investment of his time with another role as he’s now confirmed to be a part of A24’s upcoming rom-com film Materialists, which will also see him teaming up with Chris Evans, the man who originally played the role of Johnny Storm in the original Fantastic Four.

In recent years, we have come to expect Pedro Pascal to only be taking on several big-name franchises in the film and silver screen industry. From The Mandalorian to The Last of Us, the star has made his appearances in several superhit series as the lead star, which may also be the reason why he is the frontrunner to play the role of Reed Richards in the upcoming Fantastic Four film in the MCU.

But from his tight schedule leading all these projects side by side, the star has now made another commitment, this time, to the critical aspect of filmmaking. Recently, it was reported that the star is all set to play one of the major roles in an upcoming A24 film, titled Materialists. The film is also set to feature Dakota Johnson, as well as Chris Evans, popularly known for playing the role of Captain America in the MCU, and less popular for playing Johnny Storm in 2005’s Fantastic Four.

The film is revealed to be helmed by the new and critically acclaimed filmmaker Celine Song, who made her debut in 2023’s Sundance Film Festival with her romance/drama film Past Lives. The upcoming is featured to be a rom-com about a high-profile matchmaker who finds himself being entangled with a rich man, and thus, in scenarios where every step turns out comical.

While we may have no idea as to what the main narrative of the film is at this point, we can be sure about the performances that these stars will bring to it.

As we have seen for several of his projects on both the silver screen and his films, Pascal leading an IP has guaranteed commercial and critical success, which factors into his appeal as Reed Richards in the upcoming reboot.

Along with that, his dynamic nature to switch between character portrayals has established him as a man of talent that will definitely be needed if the iconic superhero team is to be revived again. While we may still not know too much of what the story has in store for us just yet, the star just being part of the film is what has the fans breathing a sigh of relief, all going to show just how lucky Marvel Studios is to have secured a star like him for their project.
