However, in 2021, when Garfield returned to play the iconic character in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Tobey Maguire to fight the iconic foes from their respective universes, fans loved him as they found him to be the most amazing one out of all the three.

Sony heard their fans and decided to feature the Mainstream actor in Madame Web. However, they later decided to scrap the idea only to feature Tom Holland due to chronological incongruity.

During an episode of The Hot Mic featuring Jeff Rocha and Jeff Sneider, the Hollywood insider stated that Madame Web was believed to be set in the 90s. However, the film is set in the modern day, so he believes that Garfield was meant to be a part of the film as Peter Parker, but Sony discarded him and decided to feature Tom Holland as Peter Parker.

“From what I understand Madame Web is what they like thought for some reason, Andrew Garfield is going to be Spider-Man in that world. Not that Andrew Garfield is going to be in the movie, maybe in sequels or whatever. For whatever reasons, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man was supposed to be Spider-Man in that world and afterwards it was decided, it’s gonna be Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.”

Sneider added that the main reason the Hacksaw Ridge actor will not feature as Peter Parker/ Spider-Man in the film is because the timeline did not match up anymore. Hence, re-shoots took place in Madame Web so that all the 90s references could be removed from the film.

“So the point was is that the ages, the timeline didn’t line up anymore. So, I heard that the reshoots for Madame Web, right? The latest reshoots, which like I thought they were upto for something else for that, but I was told the reshoots were actually to address was to remove all the 90s references from the movie because someone f**ked up on like doing the maths.”

The news of the Silence actor not being in the movie was like a punch to the gut of the fans, as they have been yearning to see the actor play the titular role for quite some time, and they decided to share their thoughts on Sony’s decision of featuring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.
