Hawkeye felt guilty about his actions as Ronin, while Natasha believed in not judging people based on their mistakes. So, this led them to consider sacrificing themselves on Vormir. Her last words were, “Let me go,” before she released Clint’s hand and fell off the cliff on Vormir.

The death of Black Widow proved the most controversial decision of Marvel. The studio mostly poorly served her character, with writers failing to give her a consistent arc. Her death came after a sparring match between her and Hawkeye — something the audience hadn’t seen before.

Although there’s an alternate version of this scene too, which is deleted. It is said to be worse than the theatrical cut, but many fans believe that the deleted scene is Bee’s knees.

The deleted scene of Avengers: Endgame starts the same way as the theatrical version which shows the familiar clash between Hawkeye and Black Widow. It leads to an unexpected twist when Thanos’ forces interrupt.

An unknown enemy — probably Chitauri, pins down Clint and Natasha (it’s unclear because the CGI is unfinished). Black Widow chooses to sacrifice herself, facing heavy fire and sustaining fatal wounds. Hawkeye tries to rescue Natasha, but she dives off the edge.

The scene concludes with the typical light flare associated with obtaining the Soul Stone — but it’s perfectly timed. The light coincides with Thanos’ arrival on the scene, which provides a distraction that allows Clint (Hawkeye) to escape from Thanos.

Even though this cut makes sense, sadly, it doesn’t mean the alternate version is better than the original. It is criticized for poor pacing, acting, and an over-reliance on slow motion. But fans generally appreciated this version despite the original one, which was shown in the film.

While another fan (@spo-oki4571) wrote, “I like this way better than the original.”

Although the deleted scene was heavily criticized, it positively resonated with the audience. Fans’ expectations are always subjective, so it totally depends on how they take it.
