Pedro Pascal, aka the internet’s boyfriend, has inevitably performed some of the greatest feats throughout his acting career. But this very acting career and all the star-studded roles he is finally able to land didn’t all come to him served in a silver plate, no. If anything, Pascal probably had to work harder than anyone and everyone else to build his career in the entertainment industry.

In fact, there was even a time when this very passion drove him to become a broke aspiring actor, the phase of which lasted as long as 15 years before he earned his breakthrough role. Yet, in those very hard times, it was Buffy the Vampire Slayer series that eventually came around to Pedro Pascal to not only grant him his first official acting gig but even save him from being homeless.

Ever since his childhood, Pedro Pascal had been fascinated by actors and acting, and thus, decided to set a course for it as well while growing up. However, success was in no hurry to visit him, and even after he graduated from NYU in 1997, he had to suffer a lot as he failed to land major roles.

But while he was struggling, eventually, he landed the role of Eddie in the late 1990s superhit drama series Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1999, and things began to somewhat take form for him. Recently talking to Entertainment Tonight, Pascal expressed the same as he said:

“That community [of actors and acting] has sustained my life as a professional. My entry-level lasted about 15 years. And we’re talking about being able to see a doctor, getting sick, getting a surgery, paying my rent when I had, you know, less than $7 in my account. And suddenly a role from ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ showed up and saved the day, and literally is the reason I was able to stay in it and not give up.”

As he said, it was Buffy the Vampire Slayer that continued to make him believe in himself even when he doubted if his career would ever take off. So his journey went on with such minor roles until 15 years later, in 2014, he landed his breakthrough role as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones.

Thanks to this one prominent role, the rest of the struggling and state of being broke was history for Pascal as his career took off to extraordinary heights. So much so that now he is even cast in the multi-billionaire MCU franchise’s next project, the Fantastic Four reboot film!

In fact, Pedro Pascal has come so far within the past decade that his career took off that he has finally bagged his first-ever SAG Award at Saturday’s 30th SAG Awards ceremony as well! Sharing with ET how it felt to be the winner of such an honor, he said:

“Look, I’ve been sort of dreaming about being an actor my whole life. So, all of that has been surpassed already, and this [winning a SAG Award] is like crossing a line in a big way. Therefore, the dreamlike sort of steps and going to the microphone and stuff and people saying congratulations — it feels like you’re kind of having a dream.”

As heartwarming and unbelievable a moment as it may be for Pedro Pascal, he isn’t the only one feeling that way; all his fans are equally exhilarated by his much-deserved win.

During the same interview, Pedro Pascal recounted to Entertainment Tonight how he “had a white noise go off in my brain” when he heard his name being announced as the winner of the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series category. He said:

“It’s the cliche, I think, that everyone talks about. It’s very, very surprising. I felt particularly surprised today, thanks to the male members of Succession [chuckles] and my good friend Billy, everyone was just, like, too paralyzed; somehow it ended up in my favor. The category was just too impressive.”

That’s not all; Pascal also had a message for all his girlfriends and guy friends on the internet who are celebrating their boyfriend’s first-ever SAG Award win: The award is all for them. As Pedro Pascal said out loud:

“It’s all for you. Trust me. TRUST ME. IT’S ALL FOR YOU.”

Well, through this one statement, Zaddy just proved two things: One, he is as deserving of that award as can realistically and unrealistically be; and two, Pedro Pascal is rightfully loved by the internet and deserves every bit of our love!
