Destiny 2 from Bungie, the creators of Halo, has been on the market for more than six years. With new expansions occasionally, this title has a very faithful player base. Bungie is always looking for different ways to make the players happy and make Destiny 2 more enjoyable.
In the new Firing Range Podcast, Mercules, the associate weapons designer for Destiny 2, talked about a new and bigger mode that could be added. This is a spiritual successor to the Halo Big Team Battle sandbox-style mode.
Destiny 2 and Halo could have another thing in common very soon
Bungie’s Destiny 2 keeps going strong, but it really needs new content and mechanics to attract more players. The game is six years old and has a very active community that is always there when a new expansion drops.
The latest update was Lightfall, launched last year. Since then, no more very big changes have been added to the game. But thanks to the latest Firing Range Podcast from the official community of Destiny 2, new details about a possible giant PvP mode were revealed.
Mercules, the associate weapon designer of Destiny 2, talked in the Firing Range podcast about how Bungie is investigating the possibility of bringing a very important Halo mode to the game. This Big Battle mode is an 8v8 PvP battle with a very sandbox-style confrontation.
In Halo, this mode had a lot of weapons and vehicles. The possibility is real because the new game director has worked on several Halo games. The only difficulty is that Destiny 2 has no vehicles except for the bike.
Destiny 2 could bring the party to their players
This was not confirmed by Mercules; he clarified that the possibility is being discussed within Bungie for implementation in the game. Mercules has also talked about how the game reacts when many players are in the same activity or raid, so this is something that the studio has to work with. But the community is very eager for new improvements coming to Destiny 2.
The main objective of the game is for this possible PvP match mode to be funny and stable for players. The Lightfall expansion is $49.99 and requires the main game to be played. Destiny 2 is already available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
