In Call of Duty’s huge timeline and titles that have shaped the franchise so far, it seems like the latest entry into the Black Ops sub-series stays hidden, even though there have been countless leaks surrounding the same.
Contrary to popular belief, it seems that the new entry isn’t going to be titled Black Ops Gulf War. The upcoming title is the next game in the franchise that will tell a story about one of the most interesting and brutal conflicts in the history of war.
So, What Is the Next Call of Duty: Black Ops Going to Be?
According to DETONATED on Twitter, the game is not going to be called Black Ops Gulf War. Instead, this could just be a number, or an entirely different name altogether. Perhaps even Black Ops V. However, considering the previous game was called Cold War, there’s a good chance that this one will have a similar title.
The game will likely be revealed properly during the Xbox Summer Showcase soon, but until then, endless rumors and speculations have bottled up in the community. Until we get some concrete information about this, we’ll have to wait and watch how things unfold.

Considering the first three Black Ops games were pretty much numbers (in their titles), would the developers go back and choose that direction again? Only time will tell.
All We Know about the Next Black Ops Game
The biggest speculation has been that this one’s likely to be a large open-world game. This may be new to a lot of Call of Duty fans, and it’ll be fascinating to see how a non-linear narrative might shape up to this.
Furthermore, there’s also a chance that the game will have returning maps from the older Black Ops games, making multiplayer even more interesting. If the gunplay is improved and new mechanics are added to the game, then this will be a nostalgic setting but with a new generation of players.
Finally, Zombies will likely make a comeback, popularizing a well-known game mode once again. All of this seems pretty exciting, and what if the game releases on Xbox Game Pass? After all, recent moves by Microsoft have been pointing in that direction.
