Someone has got to keep these cheaters in check or Call of Duty is finished. No one would want to play a game full of cheaters and CoD: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone are already plagued with hackers taking over the game. Recently, the Ricochet Anti-Cheat team updated the fans that they’ve taken down 6,000 cheaters in the game, appears like they found another way to avoid getting tagged.
Ricochet Anti-Cheat system monitors and identifies unethical practices happening in the game and bars the accounts involved from entering servers. It uses data collection and machine learning to tackle cheaters. One of its features dubbed Damage Shield can identify game data manipulation in real time.
It’s Really a Warzone For Call of Duty
In a recent post shared by a CoD content creator, Zachdubs showcased how cheaters are bypassing Ricochet using a tool that clears screenshots taken during gameplay. Call of Duty champion and creator of eSports team 100 Thieves Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag expressed his concerns over this. He said,
Bad news, gentlemen. We’re all fucked. Barring some divine intervention from Activision or man up top himself, Call of Duty is going to be infested with cheaters for the foreseeable future. Good luck boys and stay safe, god speed.
A user dubbed Connor brought to attention the fact that “Game Screenshotting and cheats clearing the screenshot has been a thing for ages. Such practice has been active since Black Ops 2. Another user called Kick | SilvaSkata believes Ricochet bans innocent players more than hackers.
While the developers were fixing the technical glitch affecting skill-based matchmaking in CoD, users started spreading the rumors that Ricochet was down. The team later cleared that it was a move by malevolent players that spread a short-lived panic among the community.
Devs Got To Act As Pest Control Now
While many are still hopeful of the game going free of these cheaters, some have had enough of it already. WillyDicky writes in comments, “BEEN done with that game bro.” From single-player to multiplayer, Modern Warfare 3 has attracted a lot of criticism since it was released.
Some users were seen debating over “cheating companies“. Smokey_97 accused them of selling such accounts to malicious players. Meanwhile Rated suggested suing “these cheating companies.” A thought-provoking comment came from Cmoney who recommended implementing artificial intelligence to tackle these issues.
Accept it or not, CoD developers need to take the bull by the horns. If this cheating plague isn’t contained, who knows how hard the blow may come. Warzone has served as a pillar that has been infested by hackers and might fall if they fail to act as pest control for these perpetrating cockroaches.
How do you think CoD developers approach this situation? Tell us in the comments.
