Battle Royale games were popularized following the release of PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds and Fortnite, and then Call of Duty: Warzone came. As exciting as it can be, there is always someone trying to ruin the experience of the masses for their own fun.
Players using hacker mods have plagued video games for quite some time now, and battle royale appears to be among their favorite genres. From wall hacks to aimbots, these fancy users can kill the mood and gaming spirit of any player playing legitimately. Such a case surfaced on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) when a hacker killed the opponent from a sniping range using a grenade launcher.
Call of Duty Warzone Doesn’t Feel Like a Safe Zone Anymore
In a video shared by a gamer and steamer dubbed Lenun, he and his teammate were killed in a rapid-fire round that appeared like a mini AC-130 gunship. In reality, it was their opponent who was using a grenade launcher with an aimbot as the gun’s ‘attachment.’ The attack certainly left the player stunned, as can be seen in the video.
He wrote that, “These hackers will do anything for abit of SR holy. Im on the road to Crimson 3 after today. Another user who came across the hacker in a different game appeared surprised that the user was still in the game despite her reporting him. However, some individuals were on the opposite side, saying the opponent wasn’t using a hacker mod.
Warzone uses an anti-cheat system dubbed Ricochet that prevents the game from being hacked. Recommendations began surfacing on the internet that players stay out of the game until Ricochet is up and running again. As of now, Activision has banned millions of hackers from Warzone.
This Time, Activision Better Be Removing Them for Good
Players are annoyed by hackers taking over the game, and many of those have taken to X to showcase how these perpetrators ruin the gaming experience. A user going by the name juicy said in response to one of these videos “No wonder Fortnite tops cod till this day.”
Fortnite creators Epic Games reportedly can eliminate all the cheaters and hackers from the game. However, a Reddit user, namely EPICthrowaway, alleges the company “has been turning a blind eye to cheating to keep profits as high as possible.”
For as long as these hackers keep perpetrating multiplayer games, players will keep having a hard time coping. This may also coerce them to abandon it, given that it won’t make any sense for them to play. Activision will likely be banning a plethora of accounts using hacker mods, which is also why they might have brought Ricochet down for the time being. If that’s the case, players can take a sigh of relief, at least for some time.
