It’s a rough time for Call of Duty. On one hand, developers are decorating the franchise like a garden, fans are emphasizing them to water it more so it remains healthy. Since Modern Warfare 3‘s release, players have been active more in pointing out the persisting issues than playing the game. Even Warzone has lost its charm and fans want the original one back so they can enjoy it.

More than its campaign, fans have been spending a lot of time in multiplayer and battle royale modes of the game. Developers tried to get ahead of the curve in contrast to the previous games, incorporating multiplayer aspects in the campaign to render them as open combat missions. Fans didn’t like it, they failed.

Activision Might Be Having a Blast Out There, Call of Duty Fans Aren’t

Call of Duty has been bringing a lot of content lately.
Call of Duty has been bringing a lot of content lately.

In a statement sent to the American business magazine Forbes by the game’s creator Activision, they are “having a blast supporting the community across Call of Duty.”

Regarding player engagement, things are seemingly working out as they fill the game with a barrage of content. Activision claims that,

Player engagement is up with more players playing now than this time last year.

Players couldn’t care less it appears. In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), a user dubbed Matt Large shares his opinion that appears to have sprung out of disappointment in the game.

A fan countered him by saying he loves the game as he plays it every day.

The company recently announced they’ll make the game available for free for a certain time duration. The move attracted a lot of attention from the players but the loyal fans of the game might have left craving for more. Now that Season 3 is here with a heap of content, they may enjoy the game as it brought the Rebirth Island back with a slight touch of alterations.

That May Feels Nostalgic But Bringing Old Maps Won’t Do The Trick

MW3 was launched with 16 remastered maps.

Quality over quantity, as many say, always prevails. CoD has chosen to ignore it for now it appears. Like Fortnite, they are busy collaborating with TV shows and celebrities including The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Godzilla vs. Kong, and more. Looks like it is just a matter of time before we see Ironman and Captain Marvel flying across Warzone maps. They already had a Groot-esque skin in the game. It has been nerfed though, thanks to gamers.

Then there are a lot of remastered maps that the developers pulled out of the previous games. It’s a different thing to bring a few maps and bring the whole package into a game. Modern Warfare 3 was launched with 16 of them, all belonging to MW2 (2009).

Not many know that the latest installment of the franchise was supposed to be an MW2 (2022). Maybe it would’ve made it a good partner for the game. Now the hope dangles on the next CoD game which is likely to be set up in the Black Ops timeline. There hasn’t been any official announcement for the game but it may repair at least some damage inflicted to the long-running series.
