After surprising everyone with Texas Hold’ Em and 16 Carriages, Beyoncé announced her newest album titled Cowboy Carter. A country genre album and the second part of her Renaissance trilogy, it marks a drastic shift of the pop singer from her usual pop songs to a more Western vibe.

However, not everyone seemed to be thrilled about the announcement, including Azealia Banks. In a series of Instagram stories, the rapper criticized Beyoncé’s choice of theme and cover art, calling it tacky and lacking any creativity.

“Sis I live for whiteyonce Donatella Bianca Bardot DOWN, But I’m kind of ashamed at how u switch from baobab trees and black parade to this literal pick me stuff.”

Banks stated as she went on to call out the singer for allegedly sabotaging other black women’s careers. When Beyoncé went on to explain on Instagram the experience of not feeling welcomed and the criticism she faced in this genre, it led her to challenge herself to create her new album. Banks remarked:

“Limitations? GOLLY …. Beyoncé you’re a notoriously bad actress lmao yet no one ever stops you from doing it… Challenging yourself?! Girl Challenge your ego and Collab with Rihanna.”

While Banks went on and on about it, even adding a series of voice notes on her Insta stories, the Pretty Hurts singer is yet to respond to Banks’ cruel jibe.

American record producer, rapper, and husband to Beyoncé, Jay-Z himself is a huge name in the music industry. Having been married for over a decade and a half, the duo often collaborate and work together, even going on to win several accolades for their collaborations.

Needless to say, Jay-Z has also been a significant contributor to his popstar wife’s brilliant career. Yet Azealia Banks has not been kind to the duo and went on to state the following in her Instagram stories,

“Ugh I’m so saddened by Jay-Z and his overstrategizing everything beyonce to the point where it’s clearly his influence and not the real Bianca Bardot. Someone tell Jayz his strategies are corny and beyonce has better ideas. Like i’s obvious why we got no burna boy action for Ja Ara E. We would like to hear some beyonce records without Jay-z on them. We would like to see her outside without him and his pound puppy dreadlocks breathing all over herrrrrrrr.”

While there is a lot the singer-rapper said, much of it can be seen here, fans have been giving mixed reactions to Banks’s statement.
