With Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin on his way to becoming a Thanos-level threat on the street level, an Avengers-level line-up is required to take the crime boss out down the road. And while this makes perfect room for bringing in the rest of the Defenders from Netflix, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil: Born Again might not feature any of the beloved figures except one fan-favorite.
Although Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle is one of the several returning faces from Netflix’s Defenders Saga to the MCU in the upcoming Show, reports suggest that this won’t be the case for other members.
Charlie Cox’s Daredevil: Born Again Reportedly Isn’t Bringing Back the Rest of the Defenders
Considering Daredevil‘s events are now canon to the MCU, speculations arose that fans might get to witness Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and even Iron Fist in some capacity in Born Again. And while on paper, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched, as each of the Defenders was heavily connected to Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil, a recent report has seemingly shut down these speculations. According to scooper Daniel Richtman, apart from Bernthal, no other Defender will be showing up in the upcoming show.
I'm sure they'll pop up again at some point

I’m honestly just wanting the rivalry of Matt and Fisk and Ngl Frank castle returning would be so good considering his role in the original series other than that I’m all good

I think ima take this with a HEAVY grain of salt. 18 Episodes and you’re telling me Luke or Danny couldn’t even show up for just a little? Yeah I call BS

NOT EVEN A CAMEO??? We deserve a heroes for hire show. Jessica Jones also deserves attention. Why??? I mean I get that they wanna do something new (it's in the name) and keep the focus on kingpin, bullseye etc. But they should at least be on screen for a few moments

I just wanna see luke or punisher again honestly

I would be all for this if it wasn’t 18 episodes. Having that many episodes they have the chance to bring in other street heroes.

While the events from the Netflix show are set to be integral in the MCU, Daredevil: Born Again isn’t a sequel to the Netflix show. Keeping in mind that Karen Page & Foggy Nelson will not be reprising their respective roles in Born Again, and with now the three Defenders being reportedly excluded, Born Again is setting up to be a soft reboot.
Krysten Ritter Will Hop Back to Play Jessica Jones Again if Given the Chance
Although it can’t be said for sure how much weight these reports bear, considering things have been pretty silent about the possible return of Cage, Iron Fist, and Jones, it might not be far from reality. However, it might be too soon to give up hope about witnessing these beloved heroes return to the silver screen, as Jessica Jones Star Krysten Ritter expressed her desire to play the character again.
While she has no clue what the future holds for her character, the Breaking Bad Star expressed she’d be thrilled to return as the private investigator, arguably one of the best in the Defenders line-up.
She told Michael Rosebaum:
“I think that people love Jessica. I know it because I live it. Honestly, I don’t know. Marvel, they’re so secretive. I don’t know. I’m just putting it out there that, of course, I would be there in a second. I’d have my boots and jacket on, ready to rock.”
With Charlie Cox’s Daredevil: Born Again getting an overhaul as the MCU adapts the traditional approach to TV, things might change up a little, and we might witness many other returning faces.
No exact release date for Daredevil: Born Again has been made public.
