After a long wait, Marvel’s Echo has finally arrived on Disney+ for fans to watch, marking it as Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez’ solo debut project for the screens.

But that’s not it: the miniseries has also cleared up a lot of fans’ questions; both about the character and the other events in the MCU as a whole, all the while revealing that it was, in fact, set within the MCU the whole time and faced the consequences of what happened in the other projects as well.

Like Thanos’ snap and the 5-year blip that followed, for example.

During this, Marvel even accidentally revealed (or perhaps it was done deliberately?) information about whether Daredevil survived Thanos’ snap. And this presumably accidental information has, in turn, debunked one popular fan theory, instead proving how infinitely terrifying Kingpin is in reality.

The first episode of the recently released five-episode miniseries by the Marvel Cinematic Universe first confirmed that before locking horns with Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in Hawkeye, Alaqua Cox‘s Echo did, in fact, fight the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen as well.

Set in the MCU’s present day, i.e. May 2025, Echo showed flashbacks from Maya Lopez’s childhood, with episode 1 of the series featuring the flashback from when she combated Charlie Cox’s Daredevil before she left the Tracksuit Mafia and shot Wilson Fisk.

However, what’s worth noting is that this only happened after Ronin killed her father, which was basically Jeremy Renner‘s Barton seeking justice after Thanos’ Snap, as was seen in the beginning of Avengers: Endgame.

Connecting all these dots, it is evident that this fight between Lopez and Matt Murdock took place at some point between the time when Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped half of the population out and of the present-day in the MCU, i.e. between 2018 and 2025.

Furthermore, this also indirectly led to the answer to one crucial question that fans had been seeking the answer to for so long: Did Charlie Cox‘s Murdock survive the five-year blip that followed Thanos’ snap? The answer: Yes. Yes, he did.

Now, onto the popular fan theory: Set in predicting the events that happened after Daredevil season 3, this theory claimed that Thanos’ Snap allowed Kingpin, i.e. Wilson Fisk, to escape from prison due to the disorder in everything that followed.

Since the authorities were busy dealing with the aftermath of half the population getting wiped from the planet, Fisk was able to rise back to prominence by using his influence. The main part of this theory was that he was able to do this because Daredevil wasn’t there to lock him back up.

However, now that Echo has ostensibly confirmed that Matt Murdock was, in fact, active during the blip and wasn’t wiped off by Thanos’ snap, this ultimately proves that the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen being around was never a major factor for Vincent D’Onofrio‘s character’s freedom.

Moreover, since Murdock was the one who led to him getting locked up in the prison in the first place, as was seen in the season 3 finale of Daredevil, this also leads to the conclusion that Wilson Fisk is actually infinitely more terrifying than the audience perceives him to be.

All in all, Marvel’s Echo has brought about some genuinely important information for the MCU fans along with providing some further serious storylines that the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series can explore.
