Before becoming a major Hollywood figure following his part in the GOTG trilogy and Jurassic Park movies, Chris Pratt initially rose to prominence following the success of Parks and Recreation. The American sitcom, which ran for 7 seasons, witnessed Pratt playing the hapless and often clueless Andy Dwyer, which was an entirely different challenge in contrast to playing Star-Lord.
While his MCU role demanded Pratt to maintain an exquisite physique, the sitcom witnessed the actor gluttonize an excessive amount of pigs following his commitment to the job.
Chris Pratt Feasted on 6 Pigs for Park and Recreations
Interestingly, the initial seasons of the show that witnessed Chris Pratt growing a slight belly was completely unintentional on the actor’s part. However, after noticing it, the MCU Star doubled down on it after Series co-creator Michael Schur expressed that he’d love to see Pratt put on 30-40 pounds for the role. As he fully committed himself to the job, he once gobbled up 12 racks of ribs, which is the equivalent of six pigs, as he wanted to get some more screentime.
During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he said,
“They gave us dinosaur-sized portions. And so I didn’t have anything to say in the scene. So inevitably, I wanted to try to get some screen time, and I decided I would eat one rack of ribs per take. And if the camera happened to catch me, I would absolutely be inhaling ribs. I went through 12 racks of ribs, which is the equivalent of six pigs.”
The Guardians Star further feasted up on four additional racks of ribs alongside Nick Offerman, just to make his co-star chuckle.
Chris Pratt Engaged in a Torturous Workout Routine for Guardians of the Galaxy
Contrary to his part in the acclaimed sitcom, for the Guardians of the Galaxy film, Chris Pratt partook in a torturous training regime to lose 60 pounds for the role of Star-Lord. And like the process of devouring 16 racks of ribs for Parks and Recreation, the Passengers Star had no trouble with losing an excessive amount of weight and even engaged in some extra workouts for the role.
Per Muscle & Fitness, Pratt’s trainer Duffy Gaver said,
“Chris’ athleticism is amazing. He is incredibly disciplined and his work ethic is phenomenal. He isn’t the client you have to push; he’s the type of client you have to pull down. If you were to walk into the gym when he was training, you would have thought for sure you’ve got a guy getting ready for the NFL Combine.”
Putting his body through the wringer doesn’t seem to be much of a problem for Chris Pratt, who perfectly pulled off the two extremities of the job.
Parks and Recreation is available to stream on Peacock.
