However, the past week or so has kept the community on its toes. As the threats of Automatons in the game increase, the players are desperate to liberate Super Earth and the planets to establish democracy.

Helldivers left flying blind

Recently, Helldivers 2 announced a Major Order requiring players to kill two billion Terminids in six days. However, the community’s passion was on full display when players achieved the feat within just 12 hours. What was supposed to be a weekend task, ended up within half a day.

However, over the weekend, the game faced some technical issues. As posted on the game’s Discord channel the game faced issues that led to the liberation percentage and ongoing galactic war progress tracking being broken.

When the players were busy fighting the good fight on Vernen Wells, the Automatons managed to crash Super Earth’s communications arrays. The communications allow Super Earth to track the activity of Helldivers across the galaxy. Due to the communications arrays being down, the liberation percentage and the progress of the ongoing galactic war were unable to be fetched in-game.

The message from the devs about the loss of liberation percentage and the progress left fans feeling as if they were left flying blind.

Nonetheless, developer Arrowhead was able to fix the issue quickly. About five hours later, the community manager, Thomas Petersson, announced on the official Discord that the issue had been dealt with.

Petersson wrote,

“The galactic war and liberation process is up and running again! We’re awaiting possibly more detailed information, but for now, we have a go for liberation!”

Just as always, Arrowhead once again proved that they are active and always on their toes when it comes to resolving issues and ensuring smooth gameplay as soon as possible. Nevertheless, some issues continue to bother the diver for a long time such as the crossplay issues.

What was the real reason?

Although the reason was said to be the Automaton horde knocking out communication arrays, reports suggest that the real reason was a bug with Helldivers 2‘s war status. This caused players to be unable to review the tracking options. Thus players could not see how much of a given area had been liberated on the galactic map.

The Helldivers 2 X account shared the same reason giving the outage a lore-heavy reason.

Later, when the issue was resolved, the update was posted on the Discord channel but the X account stayed unaware of the update. For whatever reason the Helldivers 2 X account was not updated with the information on the issue being resolved, it kept the players who are not a part of Discord and instead rely on X in the dark.

Maybe it wasn’t updated in anticipation of the ‘more detailed information’ as mentioned by Petersson on Discord. However, it did create some chaos among the players and led to the spread of misinformation among players.
