In present times, Deadpool is arguably one of the most popular comic book characters, if not the most popular. His unique personality sets him apart from the typical superhero archetype, where one has to be noble, and morally upright, and his wit, sarcasm, and constant engagement with the readers make him refreshing and unconventional.
But what sets apart The Merc with a Mouth is his tendency to address the audience directly and acknowledge events from the real world, setting him apart from other heroes. The hero has done it again as he breaks the fourth wall by making a subtle gesture that pays homage to Chainsaw Man.
Upcoming Deadpool Comic Book Pays Homage to Chainsaw Man
With enduring popularity among both comic book and non-comic book fans, fans find Deadpool perplexing. Created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, the character first appeared in The New Mutants #98 in February 1991.
At one point, the character felt so random, but his popularity became mainstream when Ryan Reynolds portrayed the character in the 2016 film of the same name.
Now, the anti-hero continues his allusive quest of making pop culture references in his new and upcoming comic book series launching in April. He is all set to surprise Tatsuki Fujimoto, the creator of Chainsaw Man. In a now-deleted post, Cody Ziglar, the writer for the new and upcoming comic book run, shared the first few pages of the comic book on his Instagram (@yayforzig), with the caption “What a time to be alive – I’m gonna be writing Deadpool!”
But what caught the attention of the fans was how the character took out a bad guy using the “Kon!” hand sign. The gesture is a reference to the fan-favorite manga and anime series Chainsaw Man, where Aki Hayakawa would use this sign to summon a Fox Devil. Well, Deadpool did a similar thing, but instead of summoning a Fox Devil, he used a symbiote-hyena friend, whom he calls “Princess.”
The fans have lost their mind, as they get excited for the upcoming series, where they share their reactions on the social media platform.
Fans Lose Their Minds Over The Chainsaw Man Reference
In a recent post by Delta (@Chainsawpedia) on X, they shared how the Marvel Comic Book series is going to pay an unexpected homage to the popular Shonen series by Fujimoto. The fans are excited as they are going to witness the Merc with a Mouth in a new avatar, where he possesses the power of God and anime on his side.

While Wade Wilson captures the attention of the comic book and manga fans, the shonen series continues to hold its reader in its grip with the manga’s recently released Chapter 160.
Unfortunately, the anime’s Season 2 is yet to be confirmed by studio MAPPA, as they are busy working on an anime movie.
