Gina Carano’s unceremonious firing from The Mandalorian sparked a lot of conversation online about whether Disney and Lucasfilm had done the right thing. Many fans considered Disney to be in the wrong to fire an actress for speaking her mind over an issue that was unrelated to the show or Star Wars franchise altogether.

While others thought that she was vocally joking and abusing a minority community and deserved to be kicked out. Whatever side might be right, Carano has proven that she is a great friend and will not hesitate to call out anyone who attacks her previous co-stars.

On Twitter, a fan recently slammed Gina Carano. The poster was happy that the actress’ exit brought in Katy O’Brian. The tweet said:

“I am living for the fact that The Mandalorian kicked a muscular transphobe off the show and then brought in a muscular lesbian like you know G*na C*rano is seething right now.”

The post went viral on Twitter with over 50k likes. This sparked many to push back against it. So they slammed Katy O’Brian to defend Carano. The former Mandalorian actress stepped in to defend her previous co-star when the conversation became too toxic. Carano tweeted:

“I’ve been tagged in this a bunch so I wanted to say one thing.. please do not engage in hateful comments towards the actress in this pic. I met her on season 2 of Mando I believe and she was a sweetheart. Send her nothing but love. The person who posted this is sad and got the ugly attention she desired.. but that is not this actresses fault. It hurts my heart to think that someone is so excited about a job to be met with unjust hate because of ridiculous drama, rumors and heresy. I experienced that and it is cruel, I don’t want anyone else to feel that. Move with care on here.”

Star Wars fans have appreciated Carano for stepping in and stopping the hate brigade against O’Brian. They have complimented the actress’ wholesome post and stated that both of them should never have been dragged into a fan war. Other fans have stated that Carano should have never been fired from Star Wars and that her co-stars should have defended her like she is doing in this instance.

Why Was Gina Carano Fired From The Mandalorian?

In February 2021, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Gina Carano won’t be returning to The Mandalorian. This decision was apparently taken after she shared a picture implying that it is as dangerous to be a Republican in today’s age as it was to be Jewish during the Holocaust. A Lucasfilm spokesperson said:

“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

Immediately after that Carano was dropped by UTA as a client. As per a THR source, Lucasfilm was looking to fire her for a long time and the post finally did it. However, this wasn’t the former Star Wars actress’ first offense. She also mocked masking during the pandemic and suggested that voter fraud took place during the presidential elections of 2020. Many Star Wars fans still hope for her to make a comeback, but that’s probably not a possibility anymore.

The Mandalorian season 3 is currently streaming on Disney+.
