Dr Vegapunk is one of the most mysterious characters in One Piece. For most of One Piece, only his name and profession were revealed to the audience. But that changed as soon as the Strawhats entered the Egghead Island. The Egghead Island is a futuristic island where Dr Vegapunk and his counterparts reside. The most brilliant scientist was a short old man with an elongated head.

Eiichiro Oda based him on the Nobel Prize-winning scientist Albert Einstein. He had connections with Luffy’s father, Monkey D. Dragon. In the spoiler of One Piece chapter 1108, it was shown that the scientist was critically wounded by Admiral Kizaru. But the fans believe that he will live on even after the life-threatening blow.

The battle between the Strawhats and the marines on the Egghead Island is at its climax. The Monster Trio is busy fighting Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, Admiral Kizaru, and Rob Lucci. While Zoro was busy with the latter, Luffy ordered Sanji to take the scientist and make an escape. Luffy would then engage in a battle with Admiral Kizaru and Saint Jaygarcia Saturn.

While Sanji was dashing with the scientist, Kizaru attacked Vegapunk from behind with his light sword and left a massive hole in his body. One Piece chapter 1108 spoilers made the fans believe that he might not be dead altogether. When he was attacked, the panel shifted to an Electro Cardiograph Machine, where the heart rate line was shown to slowly become flat, and at that moment, a video of him started to play on the screen in the labo-phase.

It led most fans to believe that Dr Vegapunk might have already predicted his death and created a second plan beforehand. He might have transferred his videos to Punk Records. It means that he will die physically, but he will transfer his consciousness into machines to live on forever. The video playing at the labo-phase may have been a hint of his machine consciousness.

The Iron Giant Could Inherit Dr Vegapunk’s Consciousness

Even though Dr Vegapunk’s death is yet to be confirmed, the fans believe that only his physical body will die and his knowledge and consciousness will be transferred to Punk Records. It could also be uploaded to a satellite. Another massive possibility is the Iron Giant on the Egghead Island. The Iron Giant is a massive robot created during the Void Century that attacked Mary Geoise 200 years ago. However, due to running out of energy, he became inactive and was kept under Vegapunk.

But after centuries, the ancient robot moved after hearing the Drums of Liberation when Monkey D. Luffy turned to Gear 5. Knowing its strength, the scientist might transfer his consciousness to the Iron Giant. Apart from being massive, it will also give him the ability to protect himself. But it still is a fan theory, and nothing will be confirmed until the official release of the next chapter.

With One Piece nearing its end, every chapter is giving the fans some new revelations. Dr Vegapunk’s fate will remain in Eiichiro Oda’s hands. One Piece chapter 1108 will be released on February 26, 2024, and all will be revealed on that day.
