Just like Hugh Jackman, another popular actor is all set to return to the Marvel franchise: Nicolas Cage. The latest rumors have left the fans wild as sources claim Cage could return as Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine and will be a part of Secret Wars. It has been over 10 years since Cage last played the role but if this latest rumor is true, Cage could once again play Ghost Rider on the big screen.
Marvel is certainly planning for something big as they have brought two fan-favorite actors to reprise their roles in the movie. Deadpool & Wolverine will be a part of the MCU as 20th Century Fox no longer manages the franchise. The film is all set to be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and will serve as a sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018).
Reports suggest Nicolas Cage might return as Ghost Rider in Deadpool & Wolverine
As per Marvel News and Updates on X, actor Nicolas Cage is rumored to be returning as Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, and not just that, his character will be a part of Secret Wars. Just like Cage, actor Hugh Jackman is also returning as Wolverine in this movie, marking the beginning of his MCU journey.
Cage last played the role in 2012’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, which was a sequel to Ghost Rider (2007). Although the movies performed decently at the global box office, the film was criticized due to its over-the-top special effects. At the time, Cage stated that he was “done” with the Ghost Rider films, and a planned sequel was canceled.
The film rights to Ghost Rider reverted to Marvel Studios in 2013 and the Robbie Reyes incarnation of the character appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2016, however, no development has been made since then so there is a possibility that Marvel is planning Cage’s return.

Deadpool & Wolverine faced several issues during its production, particularly due to the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike. However, fans will not have to wait for a long time now as the film is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 26, 2024, as part of Phase Five of the MCU. After two Deadpool movies, this film will finally integrate Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson / Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
