WWE is getting more interesting with Dwayne Johnson’s return. That’s a fact hard to ignore. However, the balance of power appears to have shaken in the post-The Rock’s TKO involvement phase. He slapped Cody Rhodes.

The WrestleMania 40 press conference held on February 8 definitely felt like the revival of the good old Attitude Era. Still, it has raised some interesting questions, hinting at another big change in the upcoming pay-per-view event. Now, Triple H can’t stop The Rock.

WWE fans might just have what they have long wanted as Cody Rhodes has finally declared his final battle with Roman Reigns. But that was not so simple. The  WrestleMania 40 press conference went berserk, creating the much-needed hype. While WWE has blocked all the questions from the journalists— a good move to sideline the Vince McMahon saga— Michael Cole, CM Punk, Big E, and Pat McAfee have made an interesting panel talk.

In the event, Rhodes chose Reigns for his hard-earned shot at the Universal Title. The Tribal Chief was not happy and started the trash talk insulting Seth Rollins’ personality and Rhodes’ family. Rhodes didn’t hold back and took the same approach insulting the Bloodline.

However, Dwayne Johnson, who was behind Reigns, came forward dramatically, and fans witnessed the babyface turning into heal as he slapped Rhodes while standing out for his family and defending his cousin. It was a brawl, Rollins came in for the aid of Rhodes— perhaps The Rock vs. Rollins match is on the card now— but the officials have separated the stars.

Following the feud, a backstage clip revealed that The Rock had shown his power after he confronted Triple H, asking him to fix the situation. “Have him talk s*it about our family again and that’s what happens… It’s not out of line if you don’t fix it, we will,” the Rock said (via X). Regardless, The Rock in his heal phase may just solve WWE’s biggest problem now. Spoiler alert, he’s in The Bloodline, but the question is, what role he would play?

CM Punk is out of the Wrestlemania card due to his injury, but he is still on the mic. Following the brawl and Johnson’s assault on Cody, Punk candidly expressed what Rhodes should have done after the bombshell moment. “Man, it’s like Valentine’s Day. I choose you, I choose you, uh, listen, Cody’s way too diplomatic,” Punk who lost his Wrestlemania shot to the American Nightmare said at the event (via WWE)

“Somebody slaps you, you got to bust him right back in the mouth. That’s what I would have done. I want to see Cody punch Rock right in the face. Who wants to see Cody punch Rock in the face? Yeah, I feel like it needs to happen. Listen, I, like I said, Rock did not throw me over the top rope in the Royal Rumble, Cody won the Royal Rumble. It is his shot to call.”

The air is hot now, and the Rhodes craze is at its peak. The company may have just pulled off the right card for the biggest WWE event. Still, there are two more months for the event, and it would be interesting to see what RAW and SmakDown bring from the fight. WrestleMania 40 will go on air on 6 April 2024.
