The trailer for Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has given us a glimpse into what we can expect from the Elden Ring DLC going forward. There’s a lot of new content here: a brand-new region to explore, new weapons, unique bosses, fresh characters, and much more. But something else stands out mysteriously that may not have been mentioned in the trailer.
It seems that this time around, the Tarnished will be able to wield new kinds of powers that they weren’t acquainted with in the base game. No, we’re not referring to fancy Ashes of War or incarnations that make you feel like a god. Players are likely going to be entering some new supernatural territory in the DLC.
Get Ready to Make Use of Some New ‘powers’ in the Elden Ring DLC
On Bandai Namco’s official page, there’s a lot of new information about the upcoming DLC. Everything from exploring the new region called the Land of Shadow to wielding fancier equipment and meeting new characters. But there’s one thing in particular that makes little sense.
Scroll further down, and you’ll find these words:
Take on the threat with the new powers you can acquire.
What are you hiding from us, FromSoftware? It seems like Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is introducing some fresh new mechanics, after all. In fact, you can catch a glimpse of it in the DLC’s trailer as well. Or at least, what looks like it.
Whether or not these new powers are given to us at the very beginning of the game, it still makes for an excellent addition to the already rich collection of things in the title that make a player’s experience so unique.
How Would These New Mechanics Even Work?
Remember that fight against Rykard in Elden Ring? We were handed a lovely weapon called the Serpent Hunter. This spear with long-range capabilities would eventually become the way the game wanted you to defeat the boss. Of course, this made the entire fight unique but also gave players a taste of doing things a bit differently.
On this note, imagine a bunch of new abilities and tricks you acquire throughout the gameplay that directly add to your experience. If we’re lucky, maybe we’ll be able to wield it right away, freely across the expansive realm of the Land of Shadow.
Are these powers given to us by Miquella? Do we acquire them by defeating certain bosses? Well, we’ll have to wait until June 21 to truly find out. If fans are lucky, they will receive a bunch of more trailers that showcase these new abilities and other mechanics.
