Emily Rudd plays the role of Nami in Netflix’s One Piece. She was quite a massive anime enthusiast when compared to other members of the main cast. Recently, the showrunner claimed Hunter x Hunter to be “mid,” which baffled the actress as she voiced her opinion and expressed her love towards the series.
At the Netflix TUDUM event, Collider got an opportunity to talk with the main cast of the live-action film One Piece. The interview delved into more about anime, and after having a brief exchange, it turned out that Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson, Taz Skylar, and Iñaki Godoy are all fans of Japanese animation. They expressed their interest in different series.
Does Emily Rudd from Netflix’s One Piece love Hunter x Hunter?
Emily Rudd played the role of Nami in Netflix’s One Piece. She is quite a massive fan of anime, obviously after Mackenyu, who was raised in Japan watching anime from childhood. She indulges in several titles like Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, and Tokyo sayGhoul. However, there is a series she appreciates a lot: Hunter x Hunter.

Matt Owens claims, “Hunter x Hunter is mid,” to which Emily Rudd retorts with “I like Hunter x Hunter,” followed by “I love Hunter x Hunter,” as the people around them seemed to agree with her opinion as well.
What are the favorite anime of Emily Rudd’s co-actors?
In the interview with Collider, other cast members talked about their favorite anime series. Taz Skylar is a massive fan of Trigun, and Mackenyu expressed his love for one of the most popular Shonen anime, Hunter x Hunter.
“Before doing ‘One Piece,’ I didn’t really watch a lot of anime. After filming ‘One Piece,’ I did get into anime more. Honestly, ‘One Piece’ is my thing. I tried ‘Chainsaw Man,’ I think it’s really cool, but it’s a little too violent for me. […] I’m starting ‘Demon Slayer’ right now, I was watching that on the airplane, and I really, really loved the first episode. I thought it was so good. So, I think I’m gonna stick with ‘Demon Slayer’ and ‘One Piece’ for a while. I think it’s gonna take me some time.”
Iñaki Godoy talks about his experience watching anime as he recently started watching this form of media compared to Mackenyu and Emily Rudd, who are veterans. He also considers Chainsaw Man “a little too violent” for himself and said he would watch One Piece and Demon Slayer.
