Fallout is a series loved by gamers and hailed as one of the most iconic IPs in the RPG genre. The series is also the latest to follow the trend of video game series being turned into TV series and other forms of media.
The TV show based on the world created by all of the events that have taken place in the series is all set to hit the floors on April 11. Despite being in the early stages, the first look at the TV series has been promising, and it seems like the makers have got the Fallout flavor spot on.
Familiar Elements in Amazon Prime’s Fallout Trailer
If one were to watch the trailer here, they can easily spot many elements in the footage, and they would be able to recognize if they are fans of the series. First, we see a protagonist wearing iconic Vault-tec Blue and Yellow threads. While Lucy, the protagonist in the TV series, is from Vault 33 and from a timeline that isn’t familiar, there are still elements that Fallout fans will spot.
Just after a few moments, we see a person who has been exposed to radiation and has been turned into a Ghoul because of it. Towards the end, we also see the Ghoul describing the state of the world in the TV series as:
You look out at this wasteleand…Looks like Chaos but there is always somebody behind the wheel.
Players familiar with the lawless details of the Wasteland will also notice factions contributing to the chaos in the trailer. The trailer also shows the New California Republic, or NCR, which is a direct signal that the show will return to California, the region where the first two games in the series were set.
We also see the Brotherhood going against the NCR in the trailer, equipped and armed to the teeth in their power armor. This is another sight that Fallout fans will have no trouble identifying, given how prevalent the Brotherhood is in the games.
Can Fallout Fans Expect Lore Accuracy from the TV show?
The video game series has always been consistent in terms of feel and the undertone of the environment, the reason being the theme of the games being very grim. The trailer also notes this as vintage Blues are played in the background.
Despite the trailer’s compelling aesthetic and consistent with the video games, Jonathan Nolan, one of the show’s co-creators, also spoke about how much they love the series in a recent press conference:
I think it started, for me, with Fallout 3, which devoured about a year of my life. You know, I was an aspiring young writer at that point. It almost derailed my entire career.
Because of this, the TV show might be what fans of the game series want to stream regarding the game. That is because creating something spectacular out of a prosperous series in lore depth is only possible when the creators know the original well.
