Theorists believe that Sony wants this passion project to fail and let the developers cave in and surrender to its rule. This wild theory is a little far-fetched but probable to assert dominance in the industry.

The gaming community is full of conspiracy theorists. In the wake of the launch of the latest Sony exclusive, the company has offered fans the opportunity to refund the game if they claim the reason was false advertising.

This is all speculation from a worked-up fan who sees the worst out of major gaming companies that seem to be picking on the little guys. Perhaps there’s some validity to this claim; however, it’d be unethical for Sony to sabotage its own game for corporate greed.

It’s always an exciting time whenever one of the major names in gaming is about to release a new project for the current generation. Sony has enlisted the help of the talented developers over in South Korea to bring forth a new era of gaming inspired by the futuristic genre. Director Hyung-Tae Kim has cited the work of James Cameron as an inspiration for the studio’s first attempt at console gaming.

Perhaps Sony has other nefarious reasons for doing this act. The studio is known for developing successful mobile games and may want a slice of the pie to break new ground in South Korea, where console games are not that popular, but it’s a step too far. Integrity is just as important as talent in the game industry, and Sony won’t risk tarnishing its reputation.

The Censorship in Stellar Blade Is the Root of the PlayStation Acquisition Theory

Sometimes developers know exactly what the community wants, and the subtle change in tone has caught the attention of the general public. Kim is well aware of how Eve and other characters are sporting very revealing and daring character designs, and it was all intentional. Appealing to the masses can generate more hype for the studio’s first console game.

Any attention is good, but Kim wanted to depict strong female characters, and the censorship issue has caused conflicts with the community. Perhaps Sony felt the developers went a little overboard and wanted them to dial it back; the conservative idea of the company is clashing with the developers’ controversial approach.

Regardless, the project was a great first attempt to leap from one gaming format to another, and Sony could be interested in fleshing out the lore of Stellar Blade and acquiring the developers to secure more coverage in all domains of gaming across the world.

Shift Up would make an excellent addition to PlayStation Studios, and the community should wise up and not listen to anymore diabolical conspiracy theories. What are your thoughts about Stellar Blade? Let us know in the comments!
