Helldivers 2 fans are currently enjoying their win over one of the enemy factions in the game. Automatons were completely destroyed a while ago, and fans everywhere were pretty pleased with that development. As has happened with Helldivers 2 since its launch, things continue to change with this game as developers add small things here and there.

As things are settling down for a bit, players have gotten a chance to take a sigh of relief. At this moment, they have also decided to discuss the developers’ chances of adding melee weapons to Helldivers 2. The developers have yet to make a positive comment on it, but they haven’t denied it either. Encouraged by this fan, they have already started suggesting weapon types they would like.

Gears of War is an incredible action third-person shooter series. It has been going on without a hiccup since its first installment launched for Xbox 360 back in 2006. These titles actually popularized cover shooters among gamers.

Over time, a bunch of developers tried to recreate that magic, but they failed miserably. Games like Fuse and Inversion were two such culprits. They did most things right, but they failed in one big thing- making the combat impactful.

The Gears of War franchise has always been about brutish combat. Players hit their enemies with guns, blood splattering, and enemies being cut in half using a Lancer attached to a chainsaw. That gun has literally become an icon for this series.

And now that fans of Helldivers 2 are asking them regularly to add melee weapons to their favorite online game, they have a bunch of ideas. One of those ideas is to add guns like chainsaw lancers to this game. Which would definitely be very interesting.

They have been asking for some unusual weapons for a while now, but their main focus has been on lightsabers and chainsaws. The developers said no to adding lightsabers because they belong to the Star Wars franchise, but they suggested that it is plausible to add melee weapons.

It remains to be seen if those melee weapons would in fact end up being chainsaws or not. As adding a chainsaw would increase the awesome level of this game to the highest level there is. One must also remember that developers would have to put a lot of work into it too.

They would have to add a bunch of animations, and they would also have to give enemies some new animations. They would have to make sure enemies can be cut in half if players use a sharp weapon, maybe even a chainsaw. This is not a hard thing to do, but the more complex a weapon is, the harder it gets for developers to add to it.

How would this work out for Xbox, though?

Everyone knows that the Gears of War series belongs exclusively to Xbox consoles. These guns, too, have only been part of the Gears of War franchise over the years. It would be interesting to see how the fanbase of this series reacts if they ever see those kinds of weapons make their way to Helldivers 2.

It would not go well, given the fact that Xbox owners are still waiting for Helldivers 2 to make its way to Xbox consoles.
