In a survey conducted by Fandango in 2023, when fans were asked which summer blockbuster they were most excited about, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) came out on top. This movie serves as the sequel to the animated hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018).
The film also created hype for the upcoming third film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is undeniable. However, fans were met with disappointment when the film’s release date was pushed back indefinitely. But now, they can rejoice again because the film has received a much-anticipated update!

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spiderverse, the much-anticipated sequel to the Academy Award-winning film was originally slated for a March 2024 release.
Unfortunately, production hurdles caused a delay, leaving fans feeling disappointed. But there’s good news! A recent announcement has confirmed that the wait is finally over.
The production of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has reached a significant milestone, as Brian Tyree Henry (who voices Miles Morales’ father, Jefferson Davis), revealed during the red carpet event for Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire (2024). Henry confirmed to Deadline that the cast had begun recording voices for the new movie. The 41-year-old shared:
“It’s coming. It’s in the works for sure. That one is even more epic than the last… get your hankies ready.”

It’s interesting to note that in the Spider-Verse movies, recording voices usually doesn’t happen right at the start of making the film. So, the news that the cast is already recording for the new movie is pretty big. It shows that things are moving along smoothly. Although an official release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spiderverse Potential Release Date
While a specific date hasn’t been confirmed yet, the studio revealed that the film is targeting a late 2024 or early 2025 release (via The Digital Spy). This news comes as a huge sigh of relief for fans who were worried the movie might be stuck in production limbo.
While news of Beyond the Spiderverse‘s return is certainly welcoming, there’s even more good news for Spider-Man fans. The success of the first film has spawned a wave of animated Spider-Man content.
And right now, there are two Spider-Man TV shows being made for Amazon Prime Video (as per CBR). One is about Spider-Man Noir, which will probably be in its own separate universe. The other is Silk: Spider Society, which will be all about Cindy Moon, also known as Silk.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is also set to swing into action on November 2, 2024. This animated series will be the first to showcase the early days of Peter Parker’s superhero journey.
The fact that there’s so much Spider-Man content, both in movies and TV shows, shows just how much people love the character. Even though it took longer than expected for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spiderverse to come out, fans can be sure it’s going to be worth the wait.
