The PC platform grants the players far more freedom and fewer restrictions compared to the console platforms. Hryb managed to play the game with a Microsoft controller, and it is the best of both worlds which could even be the correct way to play games moving forward.

The world was taken by storm when Sucker Punch Productions gave the PS4 console generation the perfect swan song and the community was outraged when Ghost of Tsushima lost the Game of the Year Award in 2020 but it managed to win the hearts of the players, which means much more than the title and trophy. Sony decided it was time to share the game with PC users and while it didn’t get a good start due to the controversies regarding linking Steam accounts.

Larry Hryb, more famously known as Major Nelson, decided to try out the game on his PC with the use of an Xbox controller. It seems wrong but it is the ultimate gaming experience that highlights the combined strengths of Sony’s first-party games on a powerful PC with the ergonomics of a Microsoft device.

It only makes sense for the developers to allow third-party controllers to be supported to play the game. Sony went all in for this port and even added a new overlay system for players to easily sync their data with the proprietary network, and even added the convenience of a shared trophy list across PC and PS5.

Ghost of Tsushima Is Breaking the Barriers Between Rival Platforms

The original version of the game already looked breathtaking on the base PS4 model and received a massive boost in visuals and performance for the PS5 but somehow, the game never looked better until it was ported to PC. The developers showcased their skill and dedication to deliver a great experience that deserves to be shared across platforms.

There was a time when doing all of this would seem unnatural and illegal in the sense that it shouldn’t be possible, but the game industry is now shifting to a phase where nothing is impossible anymore. Sony is interested in expanding on the PC platform but some wish to see it end.

Every generation of the flagship console from Microsoft was always hailed as the best controller in the business and it is only appropriate to make use of it in any way possible. Hryb wanted the best experience and did himself a favor by using the right controller on the right platform and playing the perfect game.
