Ghost Rider: 10 Actors Who Could Play The Role In MCU

Featured Video

Among the many incoming MCU characters, one of the most anticipated names is Ghost Rider. There was a reason why Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider series was canceled on Hulu, and that reason is his arrival in the main MCU. Sooner or later, we are going to see Ghost Rider walking among the likes of Doctor Strange, Moon Knight, Blade, and the other MCU heroes. Rumors suggest that he might actually make his debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While we are unsure of that (even though his appearance will make sense), we’re still excited to see the actor who is going to play the part. Here are 10 actors we wouldn’t mind seeing as MCU’s Ghost Rider(s):

Keanu Reeves

Kevin Feige speaks to Keanu Reeves about every possible MCU character. But so far, Marvel hasn’t been able to find the right fit for the John Wick star. It was recently reported that Sony wanted him to play Kraven the Hunter. But there’s a major chance that he might turn that role down if he hasn’t already. Although, the MCU role that everyone wants him to play is Ghost Rider. There’s no doubt in my mind that he would be the best match for the blazing burning skull. Honestly, this particular name has ended the list for me. But in case your opinion doesn’t match mine, I’d like to suggest a few other names as well.

Nicolas Cage

Feige has been honoring everything that was good about non-MCU Marvel franchises of the past. He has included Evan Peters’ Quicksilver in a very unique way. JK Simmons was brought back as triple J. The former Spider-Men are returning. Even the old Spider-Man villains are coming back. So, Marvel should totally bring Nicolas Cage back as well. It could happen through the multiverse. Or Mr. Cage could be introduced as a new version of Johnny Blaze just like the latest bald incarnation of J. Jonah Jameson. We’d love this burning blast from the past either way it’s served.

Gabriel Luna

I feel none of us would agree with the fact that Gabriel Luna was a bad Ghost Rider. His version of Robbie Reyes was one of the many things that people enjoyed in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And there were a lot of fans who were not pleased when his solo Ghost Rider series was canceled on Hulu. So, just like Feige is bringing Charlie Cox back as Daredevil, he could also bring Gabriel Luna back as Ghost Rider. This way, the MCU would make Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D canon in MCU’s multiverse.

Jon Bernthal

Now that the rights for The Punisher have returned back to Marvel, the MCU could bring Jon Bernthal into the mix. Furthermore, they could take the Punisher a step ahead by turning him into the Cosmic Ghost Rider. This way, Marvel could tell the story of Frank Castle as the Ghost Rider.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Besides Jamie Lannister, we haven’t really seen Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in a major Hollywood role. He starred in the God-awful Gods of Egypt. But the film was a massive failure. His Game of Thrones co-stars (Kit Harrington, Richard Madden, Sophie Turner, Peter Dinklage, etc.) have done really well for themselves. Now, it’s time for him to join a Marvel movie as well. Ghost Rider is certainly one of the characters he could play well, don’t you think?

Josh Holloway

His last major role was in ABC’s Lost. He played Sawyer, who proved to be a total bad-ass. But since then, he hasn’t bagged a huge role. So maybe Ghost Rider is the kind of role that could revive his career. A talented actor like him surely deserves a shot in Hollywood’s biggest franchise.

Alexander Skarsgård

So far, Alexander Skarsgård has not managed to impress Marvel for any particular role. He auditioned for Thor, but Chris Hemsworth got the role. Then, Chris Evans stole the Captain America role from him. He was being rumored for Hawkman in DC’s Black Adam movie as well, but Aldis Hodge was ultimately cast for it. But now, Ghost Rider could a character that Skarsgård might be eyed for.

Charlie Hunnam

Despite being a talented actor, nothing has really worked for the Sons of Anarchy star. He tried his luck in Pacific Rim but didn’t get to reprise his role in the sequel. King Arthur absolutely bombed at the Box Office. Although, he did play a great supporting role in last year’s The Gentlemen. So, could that change his fortunes and grant him an MCU role? Could it actually be Ghost Rider? I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Omari Hardwick

Last year, Omari Hardwick starred in the final season of Power. His performance throughout the 6 seasons was top-notch. After the show ended, he went on to star in a mediocre horror thriller called Spell. But I believe that he could do much more with his career. If Marvel would want to cast an actor of color for Johnny Blaze (or any other version of Ghost Rider for that matter) then Omari Hardwick could prove to be a great choice.

Jensen Ackles

The Supernatural star is among the many actors who have been trying to make their way into the MCU. He also auditioned for Captain America, but we all know who landed the part. We’ve been fan-casting him as Cyclops for quite a while. But he could also turn out to be a great choice for Ghost Rider.
