MCU’s Spider-Man 3, or as Kevin Feige refers to it as Homecoming 3, will have a giant roster of characters. In the past, we’ve reported that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will reprise their Spider-Man roles. Along with them Kirsten Dunst and Emma Stone are also said to return. Then there are the likes of Jamie Foxx’s Electro, Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus, and Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, who are also confirmed to be back. After these revelations, Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse totally surprised us with his Daredevil report. According to him, Charlie Cox will reprise his role of Matt Murdock / Daredevil in Spider-Man 3.
Apparently, Murphy’s report has been confirmed to be a hundred percent accurate by Comicbook.com’s Brandon Davis. In the first episode of the Phase Zero podcast, BD stated that Cox wasn’t just present on the set of Homecoming 3, but he has already filmed all of his scenes. BD said the following:
“I have a source who has told me – a very reliable source, the same source that told me that Owen Wilson is in Loki, and that turned out to be true, and a couple others before that says — Charlie Cox was on set for Spider-Man 3. I don’t know if he’s Daredevil yet or a fresh Daredevil, nobody knows if he’s a fresh Daredevil, if he’s a fresh Matt Murdock.”
Now, it remains to be seen whether Cox will play the Netflix version of Matt Murdock in the MCU, or it will be a fresh new iteration. But the good thing is that Kevin Feige is not letting go of a gem. He recently dodged the question of Daredevil when Collider asked about it. But it hasn’t taken a long time for us to get to the truth of Cox’s MCU involvement. Considering the fact that Cox has already shot his part, it seems obvious that his role in the film won’t be huge. So far, people have been presuming that he’d just come in as Peter Parker’s lawyer. That certainly seems to be the case now.
On the Disney Investor Day 2020, Feige teased that MCU’s She-Hulk series could bring more superheroes into the mix. This was presumed to be another tease for Matt Murdock’s MCU appearance. So, it is highly likely that Cox could join the filming of She-Hulk in the coming months. But for now, let’s just focus on Spider-Man 3, which is set to arrive on December 17, 2021.
