The Layoff trend continues to spread as Take-Two Interactive announced their plans to cut headcount. Hopefully, this won’t affect GTA 6‘s development as there are rumors that the move may affect several projects. The industry has been hit hard recently with the likes of Microsoft, Sony, Embracer, and more, cutting a large number of jobs.
Rockstar Games, the subsidiary of Take-Two, is currently working on Grand Theft Auto 6 which is said to arrive at some point next year. However, the news is that it too is likely to get delayed after the decision was made. The game has already been through a rocky road as far as the development is concerned, including Arion Kurtaj’s doing.
It’s a Tough Time for the Gaming Industry as the Layoff Trend Continues
The Internet has been swarming from the debates surrounding Take-Two’s decisions. First reported by news website Bloomberg, the company is seeking a 5 percent reduction in headcount. The story doesn’t end here as several projects are said to be canceled as the decision comes to fruition.
Only GTA 6 ought to dodge this bullet. Renowned video games journalist Geoff Keighley too took the news to his social media handle, confirming the news.

Several gaming organizations including Riot Games, Electronic Arts, Epic Games, and more have laid off a hefty workforce to sustain in the market. Take-Two bought Gearbox, the developer behind the Borderlands series, from Embracer Group for $460 Million last month.
Interestingly, in the same month, Embracer Group sold Saber Interactive to Beacon Interactive in a $247 Milion deal. Take-Two is busy developing the next GTA installment but the decision might delay its launch to 2026.
There are already rumors that the game will arrive next year. Rockstar Games have a history of delays; many came after the date they were supposed to hit the shelves. Fans should expect the tradition to stay on the course.
It is Very Unlikely That GTA 6 Will be Affected By The Decision
Now this may induce fear of losing the game to the corporate affairs among the fans. And why won’t it as major companies continue to kill the games? Sony itself killed a couple including a Spider-Man game which was reportedly dubbed The Great Web and a Twisted Metal game.
However, it is very unlikely GTA 6 will be delayed. For one, it is among their largest projects, and secondly, the famous leak that distributed several videos of the game cements its arrival, we just don’t know when.
Moreover, it has also been said that the developer canceled several other projects to work on GTA 6. Fans have been wounded by the cancelation of certain Rockstar projects including the canning of one GTA 5 expansion and a zombies game.
When they found a code resembling Bully 2 in a database, it added salt to the injury. There’s no official confirmation for GTA 6 now but Rockstar released the game’s trailer showcasing a glimpse into the revamped criminal world.
How do you think this decision will impact GTA 6? We would like to know your thoughts in the comments section.
