Harrison Ford’s fifth and last installment of Indiana Jones was released recently. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is among the most awaited movies of the year, in which the 80-year-old actor reprised his popular role. The actor took on the role in the 80s and embodied the character as if it was tailored for him. The character reflects swag and style from his dialogues, looks, and demeanor.

Harrison Ford’s film was earlier estimated to get an opening of around $80 million and $85 million through the Fourth of July holiday. The movie earned approximately $11.8 million on Monday, making its domestic total reach $71 million.

Contrary to other holidays, Independence Day does not pull the crowd to theatres. People prefer to spend the day with family by going to the beach or watching fireworks. Hence, release around the day does not seem to be fruitful for the film.

Dial of Destiny is one of the most expensive films ever produced by Disney and Lucasfilm, with a budget of $295 million. Hence the underwhelming response overseas and upcoming July big-budget releases like Oppenheimer and Tom Cruise‘s Mission: Impossible 7 can make the Jones film weaker.

Mission: Impossible 7 will be running in theatres on 12 July 2023, and Oppenheimer is set to release on 21 July.

It is the only film that is neither directed by Steven Spielberg nor conceived by George Lucas. Also, it’s the only one in the series not distributed by Paramount Pictures. The lead actor Harrison Ford announced his retirement from the role after approximately 40 years, after the fifth film. In the film the actor was seen playing his age, as well as a younger version, with the assistance of VFX techniques.
