David Lynch is an exceptionally talented and respected individual in the film industry. Not only is he a filmmaker, but also an actor, a musician, and a visual artist. Like anyone else in the industry, he has seen both highs and lows throughout his career, with the best example, being the biggest project of his professional life, Dune, which did very poorly at the box office. A great example of his success would be the television series, Twin Peaks, which was extremely well received by its audience.
Also, like everyone else in the industry, Lynch has had quite a rollercoaster ride when comes to his personal life. The greatest example of this would be his affair with Isabella Rossellini, which resulted in some very messy casualties, including his ex-wife, Mary Fisk.
David Lynch Had An Affair
According to The Irish Times, David Lynch met Isabella Rossellini on the set of their 1986 film, Blue Velvet. The film did exceptionally well in the box office as well as the critics, having a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This wasn’t the only thing that the film did, however, as Rossellini and Lynch ended up getting involved with each other after working together on set. This was wrong on many different levels with the biggest being the fact that Lynch was married to Mary Fisk.
“My heart was truly broken, and I was walking around like a lost person with blood dripping from every pore,” she said.
Fisk later went on to talk about how this betrayal in her marriage affected her. She mentioned that her heart was completely broken after she found out. She compared this feeling feeling like a lost person who was bleeding from every pore in her body. This cold disloyalty and treachery was something she completely did not see coming, which made everything all the worse for her.
Things Did Not Work Out For Too Long
David Lynch and Isabella Rossellini did not last very long. However, it would seem that the actor’s old habits came back. While the two were working on their film, Wild at Heart, the director got extremely close with his editor, Mary Sweeney. Before Rosellini could realize what was happening, Lynch fell in love with Sweeney. The actress then went on to speak on this, according to The Irish Times.
“David has this incredible sweetness, but [he] completely cut me out of his life,” she says. “I didn’t see it coming.”
Rossellini confessed that Lynch was an extremely sweet person. Despite this kindness, however, he cut her completely out of his life which was something she was completely blindsided by. The director then went on to marry Sweeney who became his third wife. This relationship, unfortunately, did not last very long as the two ended up splitting months after their union
