James Gunn Commented on Possible Justice League Unlimited Revival

During a recent fan interaction on Threads, James Gunn was asked about reviving the popular Justice League Unlimited. The sudden interest in the DCAU was brought up due to the success of Marvel Studios’s new X-Men series, X-Men ’97, which reignited fans’ interest in the mutants, piquing their interest in what the studio has to offer regarding them.

Given that a series based on an old superhero team makes such a boom in the market, it would be common for the industry to follow the trend.

“X-Men ’97 is fun because it’s unique and not desperately trying to follow the trends of everything around it. So I’d rather just keep doing that.”

His comments are enough to state his opinion that he values originality and uniqueness more than anything in the project. He would rather keep the Justice League Unlimited series on hold before thinking of a fresh concept, than making it a mere tool to stand out in making something that is successful.
