James Gunn is currently on a tight and hectic schedule working on both Superman and Peacemaker Season 2. With both hands full and timetable loaded, fans have felt deeply concerned about the filmmaker and the fate of the two projects.

The director addressed this query on his social media platform, and it seems he is devoting more time for Superman while still making visible progress on the Peacemaker sequel. It is a tough job to handle two different projects and develop them at the same time, but that seems to be the thrill and joy of it.

He also revealed in another post that it takes him and his production team to shoot for “10 1/2” hours daily. He further added, “Yeah we try to get done in a reasonable amount of time. Most sets are more. But that’s also SHOOTING hours – there is setup earlier in the day and some time for wrap.”

In another Threads post, Gunn shared, “It’s a Saturday. Pre-shoot.” A fan asked if he was slated to draft all eight episodes to which he answered, “I’ll be directing some of the episodes (I’m directing today). But there are three other great directors joining me for the season.”

While Peacemaker Season 2 is making progress, Gunn’s top priority would be Superman, which was announced after he was named head of DC Studios alongside Peter Safran. As the flagship character of the DC Universe, it’s only fitting that more time is allotted for the Last Son of Krypton.

James Gunn Won’t Direct All Peacemaker Season 2 Episodes

Last month, Gunn told Michael Rosenbaum on his podcast, Inside of You, that Peacemaker is returning after Superman. He was asked by the host if he had no time to work on Peacemaker, to which the director promptly replied:

No, Peacemaker’s coming back right after Superman. That’s my next thing. I’ll go straight from Superman to Peacemaker.”

That was when he announced that Peacemaker and Superman were being filmed back-to-back. Gunn penned all eight episodes of Peacemaker Season 1 and helmed five of those. Brad Anderson, Jody Hill, and Rosemary Rodriguez spearheaded the remaining chapters.

Yes, we’ll be shooting Superman & Peacemaker simultaneously; yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there, I won’t be able to direct them all (only some).”

John Cena starred as the titular hero with Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Robert Patrick, and Steve Agee also included in the cast. There is no information yet as to additional cast members and plot details for Season 2. It will most likely arrive in 2025 or later depending on the number of reshoots and editing.
