The success of Helldivers 2 has given the developers over at Arrowhead Game Studios to discard their original road map and pursue something much bigger, bolder, and more ambitious. The insane amount of positive feedback overwhelmed both the developers and their game servers due to the high player count shared across the PlayStation 5 and PC, Arrowhead Studios Johan Pilestedt CEO has assured fans that there is more to come.
The Helldivers Franchise Is Here To Stay And Grow As Promised By Arrowhead Studios CEO
Sony and PlayStation invest in talent, potential, and greatness, which Arrowhead Game Studios seems to possess and continues to impress with new content and how vocal and approachable they are toward the player base. Pilestedt didn’t deny the inspiration and advice that their community had given them to better improve the game but also promised to do right by them and expand the Helldivers universe.
Expanding a franchise is no easy task, many have tried and failed to take an existing franchise and give it a new spin. Pilestedt is optimistic about the future of Helldivers and claims they have grand plans and do not wish to spoil it for their fans until it is ready. This could be an indication that more Helldivers are coming as either post-launch content or perhaps a new game entirely.
Other franchises have done major rehauls from previous installments like the Norse saga of the God of War games, which was a massive leap from the previous games from the original trilogy. Adding more extra depth to the lore that can appeal to a new and large audience with the core of the game still intact. The first Helldivers game was different from a point of view angle, literally because it was a top-down shooter compared to the third-person perspective given today. Change is inevitable and can be good.
More Varied Helldivers 2 Content In The Future Could Be Exciting
There are countless possibilities for gaming, and that is the beauty of it. The developers can take any piece of lore they want and could choose to expand upon it and build something fresh while staying true to the game. There is a potential for a standalone single-player game that is linear and focuses upon a strong narrative that PlayStation’s first-party exclusives were known for.
Pilestedt is very talkative and respectful toward his loyal gaming community and even cites them and their ideas as inspiration and listens to their suggestions for improvements, however, developers themselves said they can’t always listen because it could jeopardize their vision, but are open to compromises.
The boost in popularity has tremendously helped bolster the ranks of Arrowhead Game Studios as they are now taking in more and more developers to help support and stabilize their servers while working on newer content.
