Helldivers 2 is a tremendous success for Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony Interactive Entertainment and hosts a plethora of voice talent, even at a smaller scale. One notable voice that both companies share is Yuri Lowenthal. The actor has contributed to several projects, but his most iconic has to be Marvel’s Spider-Man. He is not limited to providing the voice for the character exclusively for Sony projects.
NetEase is developing Marvel Rivals, an upcoming PvP third-person shooter where players can select an impressive lineup of Marvel heroes from different teams like the Avengers, X-Men, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more.
Each hero will have specific dialogue for in-game matches like every other multiplayer game, and Lowenthal’s Helldivers 2 experience has already prepped him for his return as Spider-Man in a different game.
From Helldivers 2 to Marvel Rivals, Yuri Lowenthal’s Spider-Man Will Fight for Democracy
The official trailer has highlighted gameplay footage and featured some in-game dialogue, and fans can immediately tell that Spider-Man is voiced by none other than Yuri Lowenthal.
At this point, Yuri has owned the role since Marvel’s Spider-Man. Replacing the role in other Marvel games like Marvel’s Ultimate Alliance 3, which is only available on the Nintendo Switch, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Fans were pleased to hear his performance, as he gave it his all in Helldivers 2.
Yuri’s iconic voice is so well-known that fans will eat up every bit of his performance, even if he only has several lines of dialogue. Marvel Rivals gives him another opportunity to give life to Peter Parker after Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and fans may have to wait a while to see where that variant of the character will go after that emotional, yet happy ending.
Helldivers 2 Gave Yuri Lowenthal the Perfect Prep Since Marvel’s Spider-Man
The return of Yuri as Spider-Man is a welcome surprise, especially with all the leaked information and trailers of Insomniac Games’ canceled multiplayer project called Marvel’s Spider-Man: The Great Web, where it seems the actor has recorded a decent number of lines. Marvel Rivals will act as compensation for both the fans and the actor to at least play as the iconic web-slinger in another multiplayer game.
The impressive roster of heroes that has been revealed isn’t limited to mainstream heroes when fans have begun speculating which heroes would be made available. Other fan-favorite heroes are set to appear as well, and perhaps more could be added in future content updates.
While Marvel Rivals is only set for a PC release, players can now jump back and forth between that game and Helldivers 2 and will not be left alone by Yuri Lowenthal’s iconic voice. It is great to see actors reprise certain roles outside of the series of games they have mainly been involved in to build a sense of ownership and continuity of sorts.
