Helldivers 2 players are no strangers when it comes to bugs. We’re not talking about the ones you shoot in your efforts to extend the supremacy of Super Earth. The game has its fair share of technical glitches and oddities that ruin the experience for a few players.

These issues can be found in practically every title, and the teams behind these games do their best to fix them via patches. However, these patches sometimes bring in new issues, creating an almost domino effect. One player suffered the consequences of this effect, and his clip is a great warning for others.

Helldivers 2 Bug Causes Explosive Outcomes for Players

Explosions now will pull you in instead of pushing you away!

There’s a lot you can use in the game to make things go boom. Whether it’s weapons such as the CB-9 Explosive Crossbow or the Hellbomb stratagem, Helldivers are spoilt for choice when it comes to explosive armaments. But with great explosions come great consequences, which can lead to an unfortunate death loop.

After ~400 hours of fun, I just now decided I hate this game

Redditor coeusgfg posted a short clip on the r/Helldivers subreddit of their recent exploits on the battlefield. We see them engage with a Terminid, get cornered in a chasm, meet their end, and use the Helldrop respawn to target the very same bug. This leads them to get trapped in the same spot, but luckily, the jetpack helps them jump out.

When they turn to take some shots at the bugs, an explosion pulls them back into the crevice. However, when they hop out again, a second explosion pulls them in to meet their end. This is puzzling as one would expect shockwaves to push, not pull.

Some comments on the thread state this could be due to a recent Helldivers 2 patch that has resulted in explosions creating some sort of vacuum.

Another states that the same happens when standing too close to the Autocannon.

One commenter even went ahead and offered a possible coding error, complete with an example, which could create such a glitch.

Arrowhead Games Is Juggling a Lot of Tasks with Helldivers 2

A number of bugs still need to be nuked in Helldivers 2.

The studio has a lot on its plate, and this has fans worried. The team’s schedule to release a Warbond every month is considered, by many, to be unrealistic. Given there are issues with the game that need to be patched, even the community manager stated on Discord that it’s difficult to keep the same pace when dealing with glitches and updates in a parallel fashion.

The comments led many to feel the studio should prioritize improving the game’s experience rather than focusing on adding new content. Fixes for glitches such as explosion vacuums would help reduce instances of annoyance and frustration among Helldivers 2 players.

The game can manage a healthy concurrent player base even without constant new updates. While the answer seems straightforward, this likely won’t be the path Arrowhead takes. The community manager said skipping Warbonds is a decision that needs to be deliberated with the entire team. This is likely due to the update being the only way to keep monetization active.
