Some stars have diversified friend lists and people they genuinely enjoy spending time with, but rarely do they talk about their controversial acquaintances. But when it came to Sharon Stone, she was quick to praise a controversial star without any qualms.
In a recent conversation, the actress talked highly about her peer Shia LaBeouf as one of the new stars from the younger generation with a lot of potential and talent, knowing fully well that the actor’s image in the public domain is not the most ideal.
Sharon Stone Claims Shia LaBeouf Is Very Intelligent And Talented

While she is an extremely talented actress, Sharon Stone also has a deep respect and reverence for her fellow stars in the industry.
She recently claimed that actor Shia LaBeouf may be one of the most skillful and talented youngsters she has interacted with in a while.
In a recent podcast episode of Fly on the Wall with Dana Carvey and David Spade, the Basic Instinct actress was asked what her thoughts were about the current crop of young talent in Hollywood.
Given the example of the Transformers star, she said that in her eyes, he was a great actor, and an intelligent one at that, something that many people don’t seem to get. She said:
“Great actor. I am. I like, I think Shia LaBeouf is actually very, very talented. And I think he’s really, really intelligent. And I think that his intelligence is probably a bit high for our occupation. And I think that people don’t always understand him. I think the opera that he did, the Shia LaBeouf opera was just so brilliant. And that some of these things that he does are probably just a little over the head of some of the people that are looking at him. You know, I had the opportunity to sit next to him one night at an event and he was just so, he’s brilliant human being. And I see this with some actors that people don’t understand.”
Thus, despite the actor being surrounded to the neck in controversies, Stone gave credit where it was due.
Why Is Shia LaBeouf So Controversial?
There isn’t just one thing that the public despises or criticizes LaBeouf for, as throughout his career, he has found himself in a lot of problems and unsavory situations.
In 2013, the actor was accused of plagiarism for a short film that he directed, titled Howard Cantour.com, which was claimed to be copied from the work of a visual novel. His resultant apology was said to not be sincere.
Later, he was arrested for disorderly conduct, obstruction, and public intoxication in Georgia, for which he also apologized and went into substance abuse rehabilitation. Most recently, in 2020, the star faced a lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, British singer FKA Twigs, who accused him of physical and emotional abuse.
